I think we did though! At least by having smith Sam was gradually brought into the team, as opposed to just being thrown in at the deep end at the beggining of the season.

Let's hope Deacon's move is more than just a verbal agreement for now.
Apparently, Chris Walker (who was due to sign for the Bulls) ''is blocking'' Matt Orford's move to the Bradford as his agreement was pushed aside to make way for Orford.

Disasterous if Bradford lose out on both Deacon and Orford, however it's probably Australian media spicing things up again.

It probably is. But are we seeing the makings of another Harris-type balls-up?

Sam was not gradually brought into the team.
Sam went from playing one CC game against Whitehaven in 2008 to playing 22 SL games in 2009. That IS being thrown in at the deep end and suggesting Smith was used to gradually introduce Sam into the team, is simply not what happened.

Only if both he and the club signed the contract. If he has a contract then any compensation paid to the player to buy him out counts on the cap and is spread over the remaining duration of his contract.
They could agree a different (reduced) pay-off than his full contract is worth as compensation and if they did it's that amount that would become the clubs cap liability.

I had a feeling he had, so that leaves em with Sykes & Kearney if they use him at 6.

Dave,
What is the legality of a verbal contract offer and acceptance?

If it can be proved, it is still binding. The problem, as always, comes in the proof.

im following walker on twitter and its definanetly not the media spicing things up, someone asked him what happens now and he said 'mate i dont know my legal team is onto it, so its a waiting game' bradford could be in the shít here.

| I personally hope that Bradford don't get Orford. It’s a joke of a signing to bring over a 31/32 year old good but not spectacular player on such a massive wedge and pin all your hopes on him.
Maybe it will be the kick up the booty the Bradford need to get rid of their p!$$ poor board.
Any club that has fallen as far as Bradford in less that 5years needs serious change in it’s heirarchy!! Where have the crowds gone? How have they let so many decent players leave in such a short space of time? Then there is the slow if none existant development of Odsal.
I don’t claim to be an expert on Bradford but as far as i can see they have very little competition for supportorters in their area. Bradford City and Leeds UTD are the two closest ‘big football clubs’ to them and neither are in great shape. They’ve had the fans turning up before so where have they gone and why hasn’t more been invested to attract them back? If a town like Wigan with so many top flight football clubs + Saints so close can achieve avg gates of 16k then why can’t a city like Bradford.
I’d be peeved if Wigan turned round this off season and signed 4-5 overseas players.

Shouldn't really say this, but I hope it turns into a right ding dong between him and Bradford, it should at least offer some entertainment during the off season.
