Fair point. My bad.

Not entirely made up, but perhaps my interpretation of "It's for the Chairman to decide" was unfair in that respect

| two coaches gone in as many days, players switching clubs, administration for the Bulls, whats happening? Theres a real lull in the season, no purpose to any matches. The game stinks at the moments and to think this time last year we signed a new contract with BSKYB. Can somebody structure superleague so thats every game counts, contracts count and the fans count. Its not much to ask is it?

I was in shock on Sunday when he actually looked at the person interviewing him rather than look around like Stevie Wonder. He was even doing it last Monday night having a talk with some guy in the stands.

If there's no purpose to matches, why have three coaches lost their jobs?
The matches clearly matter.

He said he wants every game to matter and he has a point. For a club like Wigan or Saints who are guaranteed a play off spot there are a max of 5 cup games and all the playoff games (except 1 if you finish high enough) that matter. The weekly rounds are generally meaningless and, wrongly IMO, no-one cares how well a team performs week on week.

I just can't agree with this. Look at the reaction of Saints' fans to our early season form and the recent dummy spitting of Huddersfield fans after a good start for two easy examples of people caring about the weekly round.

| If we had relegation /promotion and a top 5 play off the season would still be enjoyable. At the moment its dire. Add on top of that, a unrecognised trophy for finishing first and a couple of useless mid season internationals. What else can explain the emptyness of the next 6 weeks? This current format isnt working, it doesnt reward the right teams and it definitely WILL NOT PROMOTE the game.

And if Wigan had lost 6 out of our last 7, I for one wouldn't be happy.
I think people are forgetting the mild hysteria on here after we lost 3 in a row at the start of 2009

Absolutely right on all fronts. How can it be right for the "champions" of your entire sport to be decided by a one-off game between the 3rd and 5th best teams in the competition? At least under the top 5 there was a very real benefit to turning up and playing every week and striving to finish as high as humanly possible. Saints and Leeds have sleepwalked through the last 2 seasons and yet still start each playoff series with every bit the same chance of becoming "champions" as the likes of yourselves and Wire who have actually turned up and performed week-in, week-out. It's just utterly preposterous on every level and is ruining the credibility of the entire sport.

Couldnt agree more, there are enough quality teams to make a top 5 a really good comp, you always get a surprise team, or did untill a few years ago anyway, and it would mean that teams couldnt just coast through the season!

In making my statement that "no-one" cares about the weekly rounds I was actually referring to the powers that be in Red Hall and at Sky but there a many on here who seem to fall into the same camp. My personal stance has been constant in that I view last season's league winners to be the true champions. How can Warrington finish a dozen or so points above Leeds and receive virtually nothing for it in terms of recognition?
I want the league champions to be justly recognised but in the current climate where all you need is a strong September to be considered the most successful team/club, my interest in the weekly rounds is suitably tempered. I don't like it, but there it is.

We also want a man of steel who is worthy, not a flash in the pan who played well for 10 televised matches. The league is messed up on all kinds of levels. We need to prioritise the the fans first and foremost. What reason do fans have to watch the next 6 weeks or so? Why spend 6 x £20 per person? We need a better playoff system and relegation. A team trying to make the top 5 playing a team battling relegation would be a good spectacle and worthy for a neutral to watch on sky sports. Why do Red Hall break things that work? Rubgy league is the best team sport in the world, lets make it better.

Because Sky tell them to. And because they're run by incompetent cretins.
