It’s understandable but the most confident I have been prior to a GF was 2014 and we know what happened there, the clear best team the last 2 years has also fallen short so I would count their chickens just yet.

| Great first 40. I was happily ready to eat my words.
But the second half?
Working on playing to a high standard for the full 80 needs to be a consistent goal.

You must be joking second half we rarely had the ball down to10 men and tackled like trojans even to the last minute.

I’d say that was an 80 min performance. Don’t forget we were playing 2nd in the league who were always going to come out fighting in the second half. The defensive effort was outstanding.

I remember being over confident in ‘98. Unfortunately the team were as well.

The best thing that can happen for Wigan is that Wire win next week.
A wire win means they'll probably lose the week after the cup and it will put massive pressure on Saints to prove they aren't bottlers. All of which works in our favour

He’s certainly got a bit of X factor about him. Whether he’s prepared to do the tough stuff too remains to be seen.

Do you seriously, honestly think we played well in the second half? Seriously?
Sorry mate. Not for me. Not by a long shot.

I'm still not sure where he'll play next season.
I have a feeling it won't be wing.

| I think the second half showed what difference a “big man” impact sub can make.
BMM made a massive impact on the game and wrestled control and momentum back for Wire and Philbin was amazing.
They were able to expose our lack of size in the middle, however next season that looks to be a different story.

| I would imagine the stats will show that they made more post-contact metres than we did, but ATEOD we stopped them playing, Goal-line defence was much better organised than last week too. Considering we also kept them out with twelve men (did anyone else think the sin-binning a bit harsh? Looked a pen to me, no more? I wondered at the game if it was for dissent, but seeing the highlights back, apparently not), which was no small feat.
Also, other than that, I thought our discipline much better. We hit them hard, but legally, and didn't give them too many easy outs.
