| Quote arliebird="arliebird"not sure on reed tbh ive heard and seen articles that hes playing for aussie then england but the last time which wasnt long ago was that hes decided to play for england and is expected to play in the 4 nations hopefully anyway, as for lomax over widdop i just feel widdop is very much a off the cuff player a talented one at that but lomax gives you that individual brilliance but is a creative and a better orginising half which england need.'"
Utter tosh! I'm guessing you having watched much NRL this season!? Sam Tomkins and Gareth Widdop are head and shoulders the best 2 british backs available, anyone who doesnt have both in their team really dont know what they are talking about. Widdop has literally been one of the form players in the NRL at times this season and isnt outshone by players such as Cronk, Slater and Smith at the Storm. England no 6 this year and many more to come!

Tomkin, widdop and roby is a spine worth building a team around. A blend of power and speed to complement that structure should see us compete! But in reality as a nation we can't do the basics right let alone implementing and executing a well structured game plan.

| Quote tugglesf78="tugglesf78"Charnley is a year or two away currently for sure. Mossop has been a monster for Wigan this year and serious questions need to be asked if he is not in the England 17. I do think he will be picked tbh. McBanana was singing his praises a few weeks back.
As for Atkins.....
Hes got the physique no doubt, but his awareness is non existent. Good runner but a shocking defender and terrible hands.
Myler has improved i think, but is still pretty one dimensional as a player. He will be in contention in a year or so, but not just yet.
But as for Atkins....
'"
You obviously didn't watch Atkins against yourselves and at Hull on Friday. Have a look at his stats for this year.

| I'd go....
1. Sam Tomkins
2. BJB
3. Ryan Atkins
4. Kirk Yeaman
5. Tom Briscoe
6. Gareth Widdop
7. Danny Brough (because we need a kicker)
8. James Graham
9. James Roby
10. Adrian Morley
11. Ben Westwood
12. Gareth Ellis
13. Sean O'Loughlin
14. Gareth Carvell
15. Lee Mossop
16. Rob Burrow
17. Joel Tomkins or Jon Wilkin
Guys on the fringe like Ryan Hall, Luke Robinson, Ben Harrison.
I'm not too concerned about the 4 Nations like I have been in previous years, think we won't be embarrassed that much

| 1. Tomkins
2. Hall
3. Shenton -solid without being a game breaker
4. Atkins- Really come on this season
5. Briscoe
6. Widdop
7. Brough- Good kicking required
8. Graham
9. Roby
10. Morley
11. Westwood- If fit
12. Ellis- If fit
13. O'Loughin
14. Carvell
15. J.Tomkins
16. Mossop
17. Robinson
If Ellis and Westwood don't make it, Id push Wilkin and Sinfield in to the 17.

If Burgess is fit drop Morley to the bench and Mossop from the team.
I fully appreciate some will raise an eyebrow at Whiting on the wing but for me it is damage limitation at this stage. Charnley will open defences as will Briscoe but they are not in the same class as the NRL lads. Whiting is a very solid player i defence and also has a physical presence height etc, he may not be fashionable but for me he can finish a try and defend the threat the Aussies/Kiwis pose out wide better than any other British outside back.
If Reed chooses the Aussies bring in Bridge.

| Thankfully we already have Widdop, but very little chance of adding Reed to the team. I think that the other Mr Burgess at Souths has shown some talent coming off the bench for the last few weeks to merit a seat on the bench.
However after seeing some of the Kiwis (Nightingale, Marshal etc) this weekend, I think we will be fighting for the position of third best team in the world, a distance behind Australia in number 2.

| noticed hardly anybody has selected Sinfield. Can't see McBanana leaving him out, same with Peacock. Can't see Mossop making it on this when thinking about it.

I dont see a place for Sinfield. He is vastly over rated. At 6 we have Widdop, at 13 we have lockers, both superior to him in his respective postions. For me his inclusion can only be on the back of his kicking but with Brough in the team we have that covered and Westwood as a back up goal kicker. I was reasonably impressed with him at hooker at last years internationals but for me there are better options to back up roby then him.

I totally agree with everything in you're post. It's McBanana who I think will not have the guts to drop him. We will have to see though.
