Putting Sams thing to one side I would just like to point out what tainted a very, very entertaining cup final. Both teams were very good today. The officials were not and neither were the BBC. Leeds were hard done by today and I challenge anyone to disagree. Next the BBC. The so called biggest and best at live broadcast in the world, well let me tell you they were utter garbage today and they will be hearing from me. I work in the industry and I have never ever seen such poor pictures broadcast for a live event. Come the RU world cup you won't see that. They will all be there doing their best to put first class pictures out. You could actually see the racks being adjusted seconds after the director had cut to the camera and if it was in focus it was bonus. If the BBC want to treat our biggest cup comp like that then let SKY have it. I never thought I would say that. Next, if they were having texts and emails about Sam why not pull him and give him the chance to apologise at the time of the interview instead of saying it two seconds before you go off air. Having said that Wigan should not have let him near the camera after what he did. I wanted Wigan to win today and thats hard for a Leyther but after his fingers went up I found myself wanting a Leeds player to really hit him hard. Been one of Sams biggest fans but he needs to come out and say sorry, keep his head down and play as good as he has been doing.

As an RL fan I was really disappointed with Sam's actions today.

Why oh why did he have to do that,I know he got some grief from the Leeds fans in the Exiles game but he should show his talent on the pitch and not giving stupid V signs to the Leeds fans and the BBC camera,such a shame because it spoilt for me an excellent game which either side could have won.

An absolute crazy thing to do and he clearly is having problems handling his high profile. The fact that his sporting conduct on the field in winning penalties is questioned by fans has led to a lot of negative reaction from fans. His incident today is a disgrace from a professional. Did Wayne Rooney receive a 3 match ban for swearing into a TV camera? How is this different?

It was silly, but understandable. I've nothing against the Leeds players (except the dirty element, McGuire and Bailey mainly), but the behaviour of their fans in the last twelve months has been nothing short of babyish.

Lengthy ban? No.

1 match? Maybe.

A fine and stern telling off? Definitely.

Although precedents were set last year after Lee Smith's fan taunting last year, what was it he got... oh, yeah, nothing.

I doubt that. That was a mid season non-international shown by Sky. This was the final of our most prestigious competition which was being broadcast internationally. Tomkins embarrassed us by doing what he did. The last thing this sport needs is that kind of publicity.

If lee smith got nothing then expect 5 games.

I don't condone what he did I think it was stupid but I'd be interested to know what the Leeds fans were doing to provoke it. Though I think they did enough at the exiles game.

I don't agree with what he did, however, I would like to ask how many of these opposition fans are utd fans? Did you agree with rooney's ban for actual verbal swearing at a camera. Don't be hypocrites just because it's Sam. Other players have done it and got away with it why should Sam be punished just because you guys are all jealous of his skill on the pitch?

well it seems that the RFL are to investigate the incident and he could be called up before them. He has tried to say he didn't know anything about it according to the article.

As I put on the Leeds board, Wigan fans went nuts over Mark Calderwood throwing a rugby ball into the Wigan fans at the DW Stadium a few years ago after scoring a try but appear to think this is ok.

Tell me how you would feel if Danny McGuire had have done it to you ? I don't imagine you would be saying "oh it's ok, he gets booed for England".

However, that said, congratulations Wigan, you won, and that's the bottom line. I have 2 kids who keep my perspective on life, so I won't be going mental over this, it's really not worth it, petulant, yes, stupid, yes, making a mockery of our game yes, but wanting him banning for "x" games, nah, just have a word and leave it. I don't understand people gettting their knickers in a twist, it doesn't lower the profile of rugby or make US look stupid, it just makes Tomkins look stupid fine him and be done. I'm thinking today how many times i've heard the F-bomb at work today or the C word and this is just today, get a grip people.
