| Quote Snaggletooth="Snaggletooth"Callum Wright left Warrington because the deal on offer was surpassed by Wigan. Money wasn't the issue the peripheral issues were better at Wigan. As a fan his "old fella" will be in turmoil as he his absolutely Warington through and through. As a Dad he is making sure his son is well catered for. Another young lad by the name of Andre (can't do his surname) from good New Zealand stock went to Saints at the same time for the same reasons. At the time it seems that Warrington were not up to speed with things and as a result have lost out on two very good players.'"
We lost a few last year.
Matty Wood - Saints
Dougie Charnock - Saints
Andre Savelio - Saints
Callum Wright - Wigan
Jamie Hodgkiss - Wigan - might have been year before.

| Why do people always assume that player a or b goes to 1 club or another for £s. My lad has signed scholarship for saints even though me and him are both season tickets holders at wigan - and he had the chance to join wigan. There are a lot of other factors that come in to it. These lads are still kids at the end of the day.

| Quote Wire_Yed="Wire_Yed"He's one of my younger brothers best mates, he is a massive Wigan fan and i know the reason why he's gone to Warrington, it's nothing to do with money. [uI'm not going to post it[/u because it wouldn't be fair to him but i fully understand his reason and it makes a lot of sense for a lad with a decent level of intelligence.
He was offered less money by Wire too'"
Then may i suggest that a public forum is not for the likes of you then.

| Quote Coventry Warrior!="Coventry Warrior!"For you to say that he is a massive Wigan fan, however declined our offer, says to me that Warrington have offered him a hell of a lot more and maybe he isnt a big a fan as you say.
IMO I think this is more to do with Warrington being to lazy scout for their own youth players and when a talented Wigan youngster, is in talks before signing a Pro contract, they will try and get in there with more money. Hopefully will come back to bite them on the harris one day.'"
and you get all your youth from local lads then

| there are so many players that look great at 16, rightly so teams know what talent they have and if there are players in the 17 or 18s then they are much more proven and these must take priority
Wigan offered what they think he was worth, simple as that
We have soooooooooooo many players at a wide age range in the second row/loose positions he wouldnt of got a looking for a v long time

| Sorry folks, whatever this kid's reasons he's made the best decision for his future as a pro RL player. He's sixteen for heavens sake and he's been pilloried on here when we're really not in posession of the facts. From what I can see there's plenty of movement between the three of us; Saints, Wire and Wigan among the junior levels and so be it. I know of one kid at Wire that Wigan and Saints have both approached recently... it happens and I'm sure it's not all about money.
I think Wire have a very good educational programme too linked in with the local college to push the kids in their academic studies aswell to prepare for life beyond Rugby. I'm sure one of our regular Wire visitors will be able to confirm or deny this. Of course Wigan may do something similar.

Sam said he was as a kid. Joel has never stated anything of the sort. Neither has Logan.

| Wigan do have a link with Wigan college as i know of and prob with Winstanley and John Rigby. I remember when filming at Wigan Brian Foley pulling a scholarship player at the time (played in the first team since) and giving them a rollocking for not going college and saying it was part of the code of conduct that youngsters either learn a trade or go college.
We have signed players from all over the country and other clubs have signed players from Wigan. As has been said it is not always about money. Wigan have one of the best scholarships schemes in the country and we tend to get the pick of players. We have lost out on one but we will produce more.
