| a little bit of promotion of the game wouldn't go amiss the club promo department is pretty pathetic at the moment.

Having said that our family haven't bought tickets yet and will definitely be there. Maybe it will come together closer to the day - I think a sellout is unrealistic but hopefully over 20k.'"
A bit of perspective though
Any attendance of 20k plus would be a very positive attendance
Leeds last 3 efforts at Headingley have been 21/20/19k and Saints was under 18k in 2015
It's a bit like the current perception that our league attendance over last 2 years is poor however comparing it to the Glory years of SL 1996-2004 when the attendances were 10k/9k/10k/9k/10k/11k/10k/10k/12k it stacks up very well considering we also had large Bradford/Leeds/Saints travelling numbers back then and loop fixtures with often 2 Bradford/Saints games at home to boost attendances.
Yes there are issues and questions do need to be asked but looking at equivalent clubs (Wire Saints for example) I think we still stack up pretty well and with Good Friday at home this year it will have a positive affect (Although Saints get 2 home games against us this year).
It's always worth remembering if we got 18k Saints would class it as a "Sell out" and portray it as Positive
If we got 15k Wire would do the same
So would that mean if we sold 25k but played in a 30k stadium it would be disappointing?
A little bit of positivity can go a long way

Seems like your advertising has had a positive effect on sales!
Which I'm sure was what you intended when you posted this.(not ).
Ps (near 20k of the tickets sold went be the cheap ones!).

| I love the idea of it since watching the widnes Canberra game at ot.
I thought that the 3 side competition was a great idea unfortunately the Australian sides rarely take it seriously and when they do generally win convincingly.
Pains we to say it but good luck on sunday.

But that's an assumption, not a fact. And it's an assumption you choose to believe because thus far your team hasn't participated in this fixture. When they do, and it won't be long - maybe as soon as next year - and you have an actual interest in seeing what's in front of you, I predict that you'll consider it a much more competitive match than you suggest.
Don't buy into that Phil Gould-esque claptrap.
I've been to all the Wigan WCCs, and on no occasion, with the possible exception of 1991, did I feel the opposition weren't giving it a big shot.
I'm not pretending the NRL isn't much stronger than us overall, but we can often match them on the day in single fixtures. It's a crying shame that so many British fans are either so dazzled by the NRL that they live in denial of this, or are so determined to play down the achievements of rivals that they prefer to promote the fictional negatives.

| I'd actually love to know what the "don't take it seriously' comment is based on. Cronulla were quite clearly gutted the other year if you watch the post match interviews.

It's by Aussie fans to save face or by non-Wigan fans to diminish the achievement.

| By jot taking it seriously I mean it's a big effort to get them to play the game witb UK clubs often having to front a retainer, with big names often missing. And the constant will it happen won't it happen scenarios. More so when it was 3 teams.
I am always happy when uk teams are victorious, but when they do come over to win they do. Your wcc wins and widnes' in that era were great and deserved. But there was a series when Wigan saints and wire all played and all got beat.

Not atal, I want any UK side to beat the convicts. Love for us to be in it but the more recent competitions have been missing a lot of their big name players there is a reluctance to travel from them. It's notable that we have not won a wcc when travelling to oz. (according to wiki tho I thought u won over there) You can tell when they're interested as don't turn up to the UK a few days before. I think that it would be better penciled in for a week or so after both finals with it alternating between being played in UK and oz

We beat Brisbane in 94 over there in front of 54k. Quite possibly our greatest achievement in history.
