They've just been tweeting pics of Joe Burgess with a Big One 5 scarf. As far as announcements go, this one's a wee bit underwhelming.

Whist thus us what I expected I don't think it will be well received, and expect a bit of a backlash.

Do the club not understand the market and their fans? You make an announcement like last nights and you really should have some significant news to excite the fans.

As much as player signings excite the fans we don't really need anyone if we can retain Taylor (the announcement I'd have liked) so it's not really a surprise that the Big One five is the announcement.

I've been a bit disappointed with out marketing efforts this year and thought events like this were on the wane so I'm actually pretty happy.

I mentioned a few weeks ago that our big game marketing has been non-existent over the last couple of seasons. I hope they really step it up once the new structure kicks in, because there definitely is a sense of apathy amongst the fans and crowds at the DW have been dwindling.

This announcement is disappointing because hundreds of fans read a tweet and put 2 and 2 together and got 5. It was silly to hype it up so much but it doesn't deserve the backlash some are suggesting.

It might be a bit of a damp squib in the end but their message has certainly done what was intended and got people talking! Yes people might have wanted a signing but the publicity this game has received has been huge already with even somebody like Vossy getting pulled in.

I agree next year they need to ramp the marketing efforts back up because it's been very poor these past couple of years. I remember all the talk a few years back about Lenagan wanting to crack a 20k average and how we'd look to really push the club in places like Manchester and Liverpool. I don't know if the club just decided that isn't possible under this format (which is probably isn't) but they have a chance next year to push that average back in the right direction.

I don't get why people were so desperate for a signing anyway tbh. Who do we need? What positions?

I don't really want a halfback because I'm happy to see the young lads get their chances. We've got Bowen signed back up and options coming out of our ears in the pack. I'd take a centre if the right one became available but it's not a major panic to get one.

They don't even mention the ticket prices on that article

new/casual fans (ie the people the club are targeting with the big one) won't have a clue what it is based on that!
