| Quote: Towns88 "And in the second half we were penalised 5-1. Crucially, Mr Alibert failed to notice 2 head high tackles Daz Clark, maybe it was because it was 22-22 and we'd of kicked to take the lead. There's just a feeling that sometimes the smaller clubs, don't get the rub of the green when playing the bigger teams from the officials. Maybe you guys will feel that sense of injustice when you play the likes of Leeds & Warrington.'"
And in the 1st half you won the penalty count 7-1 by those calculations (By my reckoning on the day it was actually 8-2 at Half time to Cas but hey ho) and you were losing 16-0 at one point and 16-4 at HT so those penalties didn't help you that much?
A bit like the Hudds game a couple of weeks ago we got 3/4/5 penalties in the last 10 mins, you can argue they were crucial but I'd also argue being 7/8-1 down in the first 50 mins or so is equally as crucial (And baffling as youd have thought a team 16-0 up wouldnt neccesarily be the team slowing things down?).
Bearing in mind Halibut is the ref that 3 years ago at Crusaders when we were 30 - 0 up after 25 mins and only had 1 pen against us then went on to penalise us 8/9 times in a row up to half time. Baffling!

| P/s Your captain. OUTSTANDING. Great offload, leads by example. Best 13 in the country (Sinfield included, if you count him as a 13)

Funny you should say because I always get the impression its the other way round. It seems to me that the smaller clubs are always helped out in games against the bigger clubs earlier on, to stop the top teams running away with it.
You will then notice the the penalty count over the course of the game evens itself out, so that the one sided penalty count from the 1st half doesn't raise any suspicions.

It's because most of them don't actually understand what is a forward pass or not.
It's perfectly possible for the ball to travel forward relative to the ground, depending on the starting and finishing positions of the passer and reveiver.
I would say 95% of RL supporters do not understand this.

highlights tend not to provide much in the way of context. in the 1st half cas were denied a clear try scoring opportunity when the touch judge called a level looking pass forward. thereafter some fans seemed to think his attention needed to be constantly drawn to Wigan's flat passing presumably in the mistaken belief that any of it which was no different to Cas' would also be pulled up.
as for the passing to dummy runners, no complaints from me, the lines Wigan run are sublime - poetry in motion.
also for the record i don't recall any defence doing such a good job on Chase and in the end that was probably what won the game.

| I've just watched the 40 minutes highlights on Wigan t.v.
AGAIN the officials got it wrong. Sam catches the moving ball with his foot on the touchline. It should have been head and feed to Wigan (at least he learned his lesson from last and didn't have a go at the ref) Ref gave Cas the feed.

Was it a 40/20 though?
Lad who i was stood with thought it was and if ball is over the 20 then surely the 40/20 still stands?
BTW not saying it was as I thought Sam had his foot on the line whilst the ball was moving and it should have been Wigan head and feed until he said it was a 40/20

That's why the same incident at Salford was a Salford ball. I don't think it was a 40/20 though.
He should just start letting it go out when under no pressure though to make sure. It doesn't speed the game up.

| Sam needs to forget that rule and start fielding the ball. It was an easy pick up as it was at Salford and with these officials it simply isn't worth the risk.
His game at fullback looks confused at the moment with these rules changes and his brain seems a bit scrambled. He needs to get back to the basics of the position because Sunday was unacceptable from any fullback.
Harsh maybe but he's far too good a player to put in performances like Sunday. I hope they've had him working on his defence all week as well.

We commented on Sunday that we couldn't see any markers or cones to show the 40/20 metre lines at Cas.

| It looks like Sam is having a bit of a rough time at the minute. Bu I would much rather have him being dodgy at this time of year and being world class come August onwards!

| Only just got round to seeing the credits but fair play to Cas - they scored some good tries and kept the ball alive well. Got to say though, that our defence for some of their tries was appalling. Was it Webster who about four of our players dropped off? Hughes and Charnley had a mare as did Tomkins. The worrying thing for me is that i'm not seeing any actual improvement in the defensive part of his fullback game. When Radders was at FB i'd always bet on him in a 1-on-1. With Sam, he gets beaten and caught out way too easily... Yes, i know he's a different kind of player but maybe he's just to different to be a full-back?
