| I was expecting a far closer contest going to Leeds this weekend as I really though they would be up for it, but after watching their performance I think they have major problems. It still won't be easy in the Challenge cup semi as there's nothing more dangerous than a cornered rat, but Warrington are the only team I think Wigan have to fear if we play our A game this season. They're on a slow burn so far but have plenty left in reserve and are probably the only team who can compete with us if we are on form.
The key word is form - No team can play at 100% every week and its important to peak at the right times. Things are looking good at the moment and we are rightly favourites for all competitions but there will be plenty more twists and turns before the middle of October. Out of all the contenders reckon Wane and Harris will be keeping the closest eye on Warrington and rightly so.
Once the Catalans games is out of the way I think we'll see a few players rested each week up until the cup semi and from next week on and it wouldn't surprise me if we only see the first choice seventeen put out for key games between then and the end of the season.

| I have to admit I find it very strange that both Wigan and Saints fans would be happy to pay what would likely be a large transfer fee for a 30 year old player. By the sounds of it his only decent attribute is his kicking game???
Looking at the way this season has gone I'd rather have Dobson who for me is younger and a better player.
Some may say I'm stuck in 2006 but for me he's better than Brough

| I think Wire losing today has given us a huge chance of finishing first now and if we can go to France and win next week I can't see us blowing it. The run of fixtures we have after that is very favourable and should give us an opportunity to rest a few players and keep the squad fresh.
I'll still stick to what I've said previously though that finishing first isn't a big deal. We'd stand as good a chance of grand final success from 4th IMO and when the play offs come round it'll be a brand new competition and teams manage to raise their games to a level they can't hit consistently during the weekly rounds.
We are in a very nice position though.

In these salary cap days, it's fair to add Amos Roberts to that list. So 9

Whilst I totally agree I don't think were peaking early we played well against hudds and saints but IMO the game against leeds was as you say one of the right times to peak because of absentes I don't expect us to play as exceptional in upcoming games
Play well but not perfect game

I find it hard to believe that having people injured and/or suspended should have such a huge impact on a game. We had 8 players out that would likely have been among the 17 otherwise, but we still swept Leeds away with relative ease.. and that despite an avalanche of errors (penalties against us, fumbling the ball, etc). Forutnate for us, I'ld say, was the fact the Leeds made even more errors and handed the ball over, than we did. Slight lack of concentration from both teams, mayhaps?
