He was the first player to win two lance todds (ok Longy has done 3 but none at Wembley), first to win 5 challenge cups and first to play in 8 finals. Greg all the way for me.'"
WRONG... It was Gerry Helme!

Absolute tosh!
No matter how you 'spin' it, Edwars didn't just turn his back on RL, he took up ranks with an organisation intent on killing it!
For that reason alone, it would be an absolute travesty if he was even considered for this once-in-generation honour.
Hanley would be an iconic and fitting choice, but blotted his copy book with Union dalliances, so it's Andy Gregory for me in view of his astonishing Wembley record!

| Most statues are of people who has died (unless you are from St Helens).
My choice would be Mike Gregory.

Were his at Wembley though? Maybe that is where the error has occurred?

You're seriously basing your 'facts' on something from wikipedia? You may be right but it's the least credible source you can ever back anything up with, mainly due to the fact that any moron can contribute to it.

| For me it has to be Mike Gregory.
This statue will cause plenty of arguments and petty rows with many opposing fans, but who could argue against Mike.
Great player, fantastic man, great coach and former Great Britain captain.

Mike Gregory and Wembley don't go hand in hand though. Edwards, Hanley, Offiah.... Yes.

| What about a few statues of The various knock ons that Roy Haggerty did in the '89 final.

| Edwards is only famous as a player though and took the buck at union, it has to be someone timeless, Alex Murphy won it 3 times with 3 clubs picked up the LT trophy, something i'm told Edwards didn't regardless of the amount of times he played, Murphy also played for GB when they used to actually beat the Aussies with ease, has a world cup to his name as well.

It would get covered in pies every time we got to Wembley, just like he did when he came to Central Park as coach of Saints.
