26079.jpg Stevo on a Craig Smith intersept, "that was like throwing tomato seeds out of a moving train window and coming back a year later and tomatoes have grown!"
Eddies reaction, "I don't know what he's been taking but i wants some"
Wayne Rooney, meanwhile, says he has failed to be gripped by England's rugby union World Cup bid.
"I've not seen it," said the England striker. "I've been watching the rugby league.":26079.jpg |

BOT; The cas away game was the worse for me too, that was the moment it really hit me that we could go down.....I didnt speak to anyone in the car the whole way back it was silent and i'm pretty sure I was holding back the tears.
But then I and we picked ourselves up and now look!!! as some have said I think 2006 has made us appreciate this year so much more.

Now that wigan look like they will finish top you are celebrating winning the league.
You couldnt make it up
For a team that finished 6th in the regular rounds last season (and put out some truly diabolical performances), what's not to celebrate about being top of the table with 4 games left?
Just out of curiosity, where did Wigan finish last year in SL?
I'm asking because, bizarrely a lot of opposition fans who are so keen to point out that you get nothing for finishing first, and that only the playoffs count, are also keen to tell us that we finished 6th and not 3rd after the playoffs? Just wondering what camp you fall into.

| Its got nothing to do with Saints, Wire, Leeds or any other goon who comes on here polluting this thread. We are top and will finish top and if we want to celebrate balls to them!

| Lows
Pretty much all of the first half of 2006 including being 0-42 at half time at the KC
Losing all the recent semi finals
Highs
Bradford playoff 2007: Pretty obvious.
Winning at Headingley in 2006: With the points deduction in the week it was a massive win that kept us up.
Wire away, Leeds home and Sts away this year: First made me think "Wow, we could win something here"

Mate, you finished top of a 12 team league, with 6 artificial fixtures, inc playing a £, bottom half of the league Wigan 4 times, whilst Leeds had to play a Bradford side capable of winning the league 4 times, plus extra random fixtures. Thats why your achievements were overlooked and why it was nescessary for playoffs. There is no argument the best team will finish top this season(bar the magic weekend that favoured Wire anyway)
How dumb are the scousers in being unable to grasp this?

We played you twice that season, not 4 times! Leeds played Bradford 3 times that season, not 4 times! One of our [iartificial fixtures[/i was against Leeds . Our achievement in losing 4 games in all competitions to a points difference totalling -10 is extremely impressive and winning BBC sports team of the year is not exactly overlooked. The best team always win the league every season - No argument.
But you haven't won anything yet!! ..... Grasped.

I will look to the moment, and miraculously, the future will take care of itself.

'I was certain, positive, convinced, and yet..........unsure'

| One of the worst performances I've witnessed over the years (and there's been a few), was Easter Monday, April 17th, 2006............Wigan 18 Harlequins 30, a scoreline that actually flattered us, it really was grim, that day we reached as close to rock bottom as it gets, something had to change, next week in came Brian Noble, bringing Stuart Fielden with him and the rest is history, but that game still sticks in my mind as a real low point in my time as a Wigan fan.

23997_1287161421.jpg
Great game of rugby league. Fantastic atmosphere, Wigan were breathtaking and dominant in all areas for the first 25 minutes, coupled with us making alot of dumb mistakes, then fortunately they brought McIlorum on which helped us back into the game. I thought some of the tries we scored to get us within two we're out of this world stuff. Towards the end we had to force it a little and we had a few things go wrong, i.e Monas kick on the first for King and Solomona going off who was causing havoc. Wigan were clinical in their eventual execution of us. Proud of Wire today and gave us a little glimpse to the future. Silverwood was awful as per, but I expect no less. Tomkins is a world class player and by far the best english player in SL. Wigan are a champion side and would be a worthy winner of taking our title as challenge cup. Good luck over the next month and a bit.
:d7dc4b20b2c2dd7b76ac6eac29d5604e_23997.jpg |

What season? You seem to be refering to 2006, and I have no doubt you was the best team in the league, as you were in 2005. But i though you played us 4 times in 2007 and 2008. And I'll put my hands up if i'm wrong but i presumed Leeds-Bradford played 4 times too. You won each league by 1 point so i thought a playoff WAS nescessary in those seasons.
You should defo have been Champs in 2005 though.

Correct, regardless of going on too the GF, finishing top would mark a HUGE turn around within our club and sets us up nicely for the next few years.
Of course we then want to go on and win the GF, but whatever happens 2010 has been the biggest year at Wigan in the last decade.

Eligible? The only who I can think off that aren't are Roberts, Riddell, Carmont, Tommy, Phelps and Bailey

Undoubtedly. This time 4 years ago we were still in deep trouble in the pitch, and not looking too healthy off it. Fantastic work to get us up to this stage/level.
