How long has he left on his contract?

I think he's OoC at the end of this year. My opinion of him is that he's got tons of potential, but needs a lot more time to develop his game. He's young enough so it will come. He's got lead feet in defence and needs to control the ball better, but the kid has all the raw materials.

On that basis we could sign Myler and LMS and money talks with Burgess and Briscoe wouldn't turn down the chance to join his hometown club.'"
Spot on, that's why I only stated I'd love to see IL plans for Wigan and the years ahead, need to stop the Over-rated Aussie signings when the talent is right under our nose, the fans would be far more repective of the team if it was full of GB players, sick of average aussies from Nrl signing for us, and fans being happy with that.

I'd get him signed up and move Lockers to 2nd row, with Burgess playing were he did last night for England LF...
What a pack
Fielden
Riddell
LMS
Hock
Lockers
Burgess

We might be talking at crossed purposes here. There is no way you will get Sam Burgess for less than £300k, I am talking about Luke who would be a realistic target given his OoC status.
Btw, Sam Burgess would be much better employed in the second row than front row or loose forward.

Briscoe we would struggle to get as i believe he is happy living in Hull. As for LMS, Myler and Burgess. Money talks, if Myler and LMS have ambition then they would want to progress and come to Wigan as for Burgess Bradford are skint and need money for the new stadium development so it would take a little but maybe a Fielden + cash would do it??

I would sign LMS and make a play for Burgess, sign Briscoe and Myler. - Long term fixed.
Sign Brian Smith as coach (if he wants to come if not I would give Noble more time to work with the new players).
If the signing of the players require transfer fees then so be it.
Morley £30 000
Burgess £100 000
Briscoe £70 000
Myler £200 000
LMS £80 000
An estimate of what their clubs would want to let them join us.
To leave - Phelps, Bailey, Coley, Prescott (loan), Smith.'"
Seriously what planet do you live on! Why the hell do you think we have the money to buy those players? Why do you think they'd want to come to Wigan? It aggrevates the living sh*te out of me how so many idiots on this board think we can sign anyone and everyone. Its time to face facts people, we are an average club at best.

And unfortunately, it is people like you who would have us remain so.
Stop denegrating the club and see this team for what it really is - A good set of players, which needs just a little tweaking to be right up there again, but which is ham-strung by a complete lack of leadership from its coaching staff.
FFS - This is Wigan (said in "300" style) - Most players would love to play for us, because the vast majority can see the potential, the facilities, etc..
We have everything at this club, except the right man to utilise the best facilites in the league to build a winning team.

You sound pathetic, why can a good number of our fans and the rest of SL see us for what we really are except for the deluded few like yourself that still think we own the worldof Rugby League. We are a spent force going in the wrong direction.

TBH yourself & Pie eyed are both right we have all the right ingridients to be back at the top, large fan base, excellent stadium, world class training facilities, but we keep shooting ourselves in the foot, time & time again, we are a former shadow of ourselves and are going in the wrong direction and unless we act now and do something about this awfull situation we find ourselves in. (There is no one to except ourselves to blame) we could be SL version of Newcastle United or even worse Leeds.

Seriously, seriously deluded. Wigan have just paid Warrington £100k for a player they wanted out of the club and now you think they will let their key player and captain go for £30k.
I remember when Warrington signed Morley (you know over-paid, too old, always suspended, etc etc) Noble was on GMR and confirmed that Wigan had been in the hunt for him but "once Moran got the howitzers out we didn't have a chance". Face facts when it comes to the pecking order of signing players Wigan are now behind Warringtom.
If Myler leaves Salford this year then Warrington will be firm favourites because Salford will look to maximise their return and nobody can currently complete with Warrington when it comes to paying transfer fees.

Hang on, Morley is 31? He has maybe 1 or 2 at the most seasons left in him plus he is out of contract at end of the season if he wishes to do so. Carvell went to you for 50,000 in his late 20's and just signed a 4 year deal, it is you who is deluded.
Gleeson had a year and a half left on his contract at 29 - £100,000 pus Mathers but really adding Mathers to the bargain is just like throwing a car air freshener in with a Porshe

| Nice if those signings could come off, however would those players now want to come to us as we are, plus if we kept noble I'm sure he'd just mess it up with those players in the team as well.

Laugh all you want about Mathers; he's yet to lose when playing for Warrington. Can Gleeson say the same at Wigan?
As for Morley he has taken up an option for 2010 so your wrong on that one. I would say the way he's going he could continue at the toip level for a good few years yet; just look at Steve Price in Australia.
Gleeson had been told he could leave at the end of this season so the fact his contract had 18 months is irrrelevant.
The Carvell point just supports what I say as there was only Warrington willing to pay the price Hull wanted (and it was more then £50k). Do you think Wigan should have paid the requested fee? It seems you could do with somebody like Carvell now.
