| Quote Orrell Lad="Orrell Lad"It's only taken them 4 weeks to come begging to us to put their retail space to good use, every time I've been past the stadium shop it has been EMPTY, except for a few rather desperate looking staff.'" That's interesting to know, I've not actually been in yet as they've had stewards on the door at each match due to it being so busy, looks good through the window though.
It's good to see the facility being rented out on rugby match days, the shop is being run as a joint venture between Latics and the new kit manufactuers.

| Great idea to use a proper shop as opposed to that converted hot dog van. You always used to see a lot of people in the JJB shop or in the soccer dome shop on a match night.
I'm sure they will generate a lot of interest. Even if the uptake is slow to start with, it should be very successful for the future.
Maybe they can even have player signings and other events to attract people in?

| I think though that its been part of the plan from day one. My friend who works at the stadium told me weeks ago that it was going to stock rugby stuff. Would be open on match days

Its better than Bolton's effort with the same sponsor.
Re the shop - Its a positive step when you consider we currently sell out of the ultimate burger vans. The merchandise quality has improved but the whole set up is knackered and is going to take a long time to sort out. Ideally the Fitness First purchase will come off, but nowt happening their currently. A town centre location is a good idea but again, i dont see anything happening currently. The fact Kooga went to JJB themselves says alot about the mess we have made of it all. Be interesting what happens next year because if Mecca don't renew sharply we will be in the same situation again given Mick Hogans comments about how long the process normally takes.

| Ideally the fitness first could be like Wigan Warriors themed bar and restraunt like Franky and Bennys with a section where they sell all the shirts, training gear, classic DVDs, posters (for pemps) etc, tickets for home and away as well as somewhere to organise coach travel for away games and could meet there too for coach trips to away games.
Supporters coud gather there before and after games and when Wigan aren't playing they could go there anyway as they would be helping to fund their beloved rugby team.
Kids paties there with Max and the players would go down a treat too.
Generally a HQ for Wigan RL supporters which would be open everyday and screen al the Wigan games and Internationals.
Also a shop in Grand Arcade or near it would be great.

| The Fitness First building could be up for grabs quite soon. The current tenant - who I believe has recently terminated the contract - has been stumping up the rent despite the unit not being in use for a good while.
This is only what I've found out from my own research, so the details may contain slight inaccuracies

Is there anything indicating IL and Wigan RL are interested in taking on a building like that?
As to the shop at in the ground I think it is fine. Better than the vans and the fact the club will no doubt have to pay a rent for using it is surely no surprise? We don't own the ground and so we must pay a rent to the stadium company if we want a shop. Why is this an issue?

It does, I agree. But the design of the Bolton one is shockingly bad, worse than this years.
