| Quote: Rogues Gallery "So what would happen if Wigan Athletic, Hull City and Huddersfield Town had Premiership / play off games on Sunday and all those teams were in the quarter Finals?'"
That's why I said 'of the eight' in the original post. If the other clubs were in it and all had them then it would be a more widespread problem. But in this instance you are the only club affected.

| Quote: Rogues Gallery "Is it?
If Horatio Yed is correct, then that's two stadia out of the reckoning for Saturday, so it would only have taken Hull and Hull City to make it through to this weekend (Hull City only just missed out) to cause even more problems.
The real problem is the fact that we have three rounds in five weeks and then a nine week break to the semis and then five weeks to the final.
Although I agree I can't see any logical reason for not playing Saturday especially if Catalan can't.'"
I don't think Catalan's stadium is in use on Saturday although that is the day of the French Elite League final in Narbonne so you can fully appreciate why the French do not want a clash.
The problem is not the scheduling of the competition - the RFL have scheduled it this way in response to previous criticism by fans of how it was scheduled. So no great suprise that rugby league fans continue to moan even when their original moans were addressed.
The REAL problem is that not all rugby league clubs have first call on the stadia they use. If they all did there would be no problem whenever the RFL scheduled games. Yourself has been focal in the past "mocking" Warrington's Lego stadium and Saints screw-fix stadium whilst praising the benefits of Wigan's lease arrangement at The Dave Whelan Stadium - perhaps in future you will acknowledge the problems that come with Wigan's leasing arrangements.
This is all getting to be a farce now, time for Wigan to bite the bullet and move the game to the "screw-fix" stadium. At least that way Daints won't lose out their proportion of the gate money that would be wasted in renting another facility.

| I don't know who signed the contract with the stadium owners but they must have realised this could and would happen.RL and the EPL can work out dates for league games to avoid this. When the contract was being sorted if Wigan RL had said there is no deal if we can not play Challenge Cup games and Play Off games the day before Latics play what would the owners have done then.I am sure they would not shut the door on Wigan RL.Like as been said many times Latics will at some point drop out of the PL.Then the owners will need Wigan RL.Was this contract signed when Latics only had dreams of PL football.I want the game played at the DW Stadium because that is the way the draw went and Saints are going to loose money with the smaller attendance,if played at a neutral stadium.

| This whole situation is diabolical
Grow some balls
Can't believe how Wigan Athletic " a tiny insignificant football club" is calling the shots.
If you not going to grow some balls and demand to play, eat humble pie and start to save for a home of your own.

Clearly you have no understanding whatsoever of the situation in the borough of Wigan.

Insignificant to you and I perhaps. But if Wigan Athletic stay in the Premier League they get circa £30m in sky money. How many years of Wigan Warriors rent does that equate to. Much as I dislike it and I really want the game to be at Wigan, and much as I dislike the arrogance of DW. I can see why he is not willing to budge on this one.
Imagine the last game of the season is 1-1 with seconds to go. A wigan player breaks through. He needs to tuck it away to keep the Latics in the Premiership. He takes his foot back delivers his foot through the ball but just before he strikes it the ball takes a horrible bobble and he balloons it over the bar. Latics down to the Championship. DW sitting up in the stand thinking "if just maybe I had not let those rugby players on that pitch yesterday we might still be in the Premiership" Would he be able to live with himself?

Knowing our strikers mate we'd miss anyway.

They have been doing all right of late.
But you see what I am saying. I honestly think if it was any other game than the last game of the season DW might have just said "ok play your game on the sat" but last game of the season with so much riding on it. Forget it

After the result tonight, Latics will probably be safe anyway baring a miracle set of results, so that might change his mind.
It is a joke that we can't play at home unless we ask the Stadium owner nicely, but as I said on the other thread, it's better than the alternatives.

To be honest I will be gutted if not at DW because for me coming down it is by far the easiest to get to by train for me and the draw said Wigan at home so as far as I am concerned that is what it should be. I will defo not come down if it is Leigh or Widnes because as I have said before a game like this does not deserve a tiny stadium or a plastic pitch !!!
