Mick Hogan leaving?

Being reported on the other site that he's going to Sale RU, anyone heard anything?

Yeah I got told yesterday. Someone very close to the Sale set up (well Swanson) has said he is going.


Gutted really

Big blow if he is going, just when the club begins to assert it's self under stable leadership we could potentially lose a vital cog in taking us further forward.

Hopefully Lenegan can find a good enough replacement if Mick does go, he's done very well in his recruitment of off-field staff so far, so there's no reason to think he won't come up trumps again. Still Gutted that he could possibly be going.

Would it not be beneficial to match Sale's offer?

As LTS said he's a vital cog in the Wigan machine and we need to keep him at the club.

I've got a nasty feeling that might be easier said than done.

What’s the point in having a multi millionaire owner if we can't match bids like this? I’d say he’s quite a key player in the current Wigan set up and it will set us back by losing him.

TBF Mick Hogan seems to be one clued up guy and if the RFL had any sense he’d be working at HQ.

Again, much like the SC arguments, it’s all about trying to keep the right people in our game.

As much as players like SBW and Gasnier shape our on field product guys like Hogan shape our off the field product and are just as much worth the mega bucks they command.

Even with IL's prudent management, MH has done a amazingly good job, to the point I could have seen him at the RFL one day.

Sale clearly want a top man if the rumours with regards a move to Leigh are true. I would hope IL would counter this offer and keep MH.

A more worrying prospect still is, would MH look to take Simon Collison with him, should he need to market Sale in a new area (Leigh).

Ive pretty much just said the same thing. Its absolutely correct and the highlighted bit is the key.

Mick Hogan to me, is clearly a leading administrator in rugby, and was at Newcastle RU long enough to suggest he doesnt chase jobs. IL needs to make him an offer to stay, his role within the club, is one we would struggle to fill to the same standard.

Don't get me wrong, I think you'd have to be blind or a Leyther not to be able to see the huge change that has taken place at the club since Mick Hogan's arrival. I'd love Mr Lenaghan to keep the team together but I'm not sure if we'd be able to match an offer from union. However, at the end of the day I don't suppose that money would be the sole factor in Mick leaving. If he does decide to go to union it may well be for other reasons.

Like you said he's one of the top people in the 'rugby' industry and he needs to be kept hold of.

Big step backwards for Wigan RL and RL if Hogan leaves as he's that good.

Has anyone else just heard about a certain first team fringe player who is out on loan has been sacked by the club?

I haven't heard anything, but I'd take a guess that the player in question is a winger.

Wouldnt surprise me.

That only leaves Ainscough and Charnley.

Unless we have other wingers out there.
