| Good to see him finally realising his potential and earning some plaudits. He really can be anything he wants in RL.

| Well good on him I've been a critic of him but I really hope he takes his chance that Waney has given him, but centres are usually natural players like the 2young lads Rogues has mentioned

| Long may it continue, I was worried after his performance vs Hunslet but he has really turned it round these past 2 games.

| Bilko made some good points on the radio, hes not had many chances to play and get match fit. He now has a chance with thornley out for the season to stake his claim
Hopefully he get a bit of a run at centre

| Really pleased for him. I've always been confident he would come good one day (given time and patience). He's prone to the odd brain fart but his effort cannot be faulted.

Agreed. It'll be interesting to see what happens when Charnley & Bowen are back fit - Gelling and Sargenson both fighting for that centre spot, and both playing very well.

| Really pleased for him, I've had loads of arguments on here, facebook and in the stands (where he often gets completely slated by his own team's supporters). I'm glad he has now been given the opportunity to show what he can do in his correct position. I predict that when Thornley returns it may be Goulding, not Gelling, who needs to fight to keep his shirt

I would rather have Gelling, Sargenson and Goulding fighting for both centre spots.

| Hopefully Gelling can kick on and put a string of performances together now. His problem in the past has been he's never taken these opportunities and backs up one excellent performance with 2 shoddy ones. With Thornley out long term he won't get a better chance to prove he has a career at Wigan.
As far as Sarginson goes, I'd be inclined to use him on the wing whilst Charnley is out and play him at full back when Bowen is rested or injured. Nice to have plenty of options in the backs with several players able to play 2 or 3 different positions.

| Another 200+ meter game from him. Quality. More than all 4 of our props combined.

| Rid him of the mistakes brought on by concentration lapses and we've got a supreme athlete there.
I just hope we give him a run at centre now.

| Forgive my ignorance but why isn't he considered a centre or a second row.
He seems to be a real physical handful and can play a bit with a decent turn of speed.

I think he is. Just seems to have made most of his Wigan appearances on the wing because... *shrugs*
Glad to hear he had a good game last night. Looks a hell of a player when he's up for it, think he needs a good run in his favoured position to really impress. Hope he gets that chance!

Because he's not first choice in either position, so his appearances depend on who else gets injured - eg in 2012 all ( If I remember rightly) his appearances were covering for when Richards was injured. Last year and this, most of his games have been at centre.
He's got a great chance now to keep that left centre spot, with Thornley out for the season, and so far seems to be taking that chance - Sargenson is his main competition when everyone else is fit, with Bowen, Charnley, Goulding and Burgess pretty much nailed on in the other 4 spots.
Having said that, as others have pointed out, Goulding's form seems to have dipped a bit this year.

I get that he hasn't been first choice, just always seemed to me that he never got as much of a go at centre than Thornley did. That said it's Wane who sees them train each week to make the call about who plays.
