| Quote: Aboveusonlypie "The point is surely - no-one but the player himself can know whether it was malicious, so therefore it is an irrelevance. And as you well know, whether Dixon ducked into the challenge "somewhat" or not, is also an irrelevance. So why even mention it? Other than to excuse MMc.
I think it makes us bigger if we accept our faults (not make excuses) and work on them. MMc will have a few weeks now to consider things. I hope he comes back with a better attitude (like last season after getting a ban in the playoffs in 2012 for getting sent off in an otherwise meaninghless end of season game against Saints) and doesn't attempt to hurt anyone, thus giving away needless penalties, thus giving away field position, thus ultimately hurting his own team.'"
Why would a player ducking in to a challenge be an irrelevance? If you go to whack somebody around the chest and they duck the chances are your going to hit them higher on the body then originally intended.
He'll get what he deserves ultimately.

Yeah, that's definitely how it works with the RFL disciplinary

| Looks like he's not taking the EGP and contesting the charge.

| Whatever happens with the ban happens, but I'm interested to see do we really think he's captain material? He seems close to the edge a lot of the time and has a tendency to step over it. I don't really have him down as a leader and he seems to be struggling with his game enough at the moment without putting the captaincy on his shoulders...

| If he does cop a ban then the captaincy will go to someone else until Lockers returns. From Sunday's game the obvious leader out there was Matty Smith both in the game he played and his vocal contribution.

Which would appear to show that Wigan think that Dixon fell into the tackle as is the thought of many of the fans who were at the game. I know we were a long way from it, but also the referee just gave a penalty. The video on Wigan t.v. is also inconclusive.
If Wigan or Cas have a better video of it then that should be used, and if the initial contact is to the jaw than he should be punished.

| I thought Dixon mis judged the kick and he was off balance when MicMac tackled him.
Only seen it the once and from 80 yards away or so, that's what it looked like to me. Also from that distance and the fact Dixon stayed down I wondered if there'd been a clash of heads. Obviously not.

This continued search for mitigation is admirable. I mean - Dixon was falling, Dixon was off balance, Micky hit him on the shoulder first, Micky didn't intend to hurt him, Micky wasn't being malicious. How about this?
It should have been a penalty the other way really - Dixon shouldn't be hitting Mick's arm with his jaw. Something for Dixon to ponder on whilst he's sucking soup through a straw.

Have you watched it again. Can you honestly tell me where the contact is. I have and I can't, just as I couldn't on Sunday from where I was stood (a long way from the tackle)
That's why I said if there is better video evidence then let it be used and if it's proved that the contact was to the jaw then he deserves a long ban.
The referee and touch judges saw nothing other than a penalty, no sending off no on report and they were a lot closer than I (or I suspect you ) were.

Do you not think that this seems to happen far too often to MM to continue the road of "this is just bad luck"?
Whether it be intent, mistiming, or miscalculation, as a player he is involved in far too many of these incidents. I'm not suggesting burning him at the stake, but his tackling technique (if it is mistiming) or whatever the problem is needs to be rectified. Whether that's a prolonged stay on the sidelines, I don't know (it's not for me to say) - but teams shouldn't face Wigan EXPECTING to have a player taken out.

| MM does need to be careful though or he'll start making a reputation for himself, a la Newton. Being aggressive is fine, but it needs to be controlled...

agreed thats what I posted before. The Wigan tv looks like he ducked a bit, but the reaction of the players and fans seems to say otherwise and they were closer and on the same side. The wigan tv angle doesnt show much.

Are you saying Cas expected someone to get taken out? And that they only expect this when playing against Wigan? Are you saying every team in SL expects to have a player taken out when playing Wigan? Or are you just having a pop at Wigan - again?
