| I was told after the game that in the first half there were six pens and fourteen in the 2nd. Like it or nor we do give away some daft penalties.
Salford's first two tries came from sets following a pen.
Wigan were streets ahead on man to man ability yet at time they looked as good as us.
As soon as Salford scored their first try they became a different team.
We needed to up our game at that point but went into cruise control as the game was effectively won.

And Smith should have realised what Salford's "Tactics" were to create that type of game!
28 - 6 up and 2nd half it turns into a Niggleathon!
Who do you think created that? The team in front or the Team who's behind?
I agree Salford Should try something like that but to then Give them the right side of the penalty count seems to me more like he's trying to make it a Game rather than refereeing what he sees in front of him!

| It was yet again the imbalance that Wigan cannot seem to overcome.
When we had the ball in hand near the Salford line we looked good with Riddell and Leuluai ripping Salford to pieces (although Salford seemed to fall for every dummy run tbh)
In defence we were very weak and fell off some pretty basic tackles. Stuart Fielden was guilty on at least two occasions of going to high and if his defence starts to wane then he shouldn't feature next week as he offers nothing else.
Thought we lacked a bit of impetus when Riddell left and that's what gave Salford their chances to get back into the game but as much as we let in some soft tries we did well not to concede more with the amount of penalties we conceded near our own try line.
Overall a good performance, but we need to improve next week if we want a result at Craven Park.

| We lack mental strength.
A properly prepared team would have scored 40+ points last night and conceded none.
I remember Shaun Edward giving an interview after Wigan won by something like 60 points at Wakefield. He basically said that fixtures like that should be prepared for as if they are cup finals. Once the contest is over, they have to be used as opportunities to get as many points on the board as possible.
That's one of the reasons why Shaun Edwards's Wigan always finished top of the league, and Brian Noble's Wigan never get anywhere near.
To switch off at half-time, just because you're 20 points up, is unforgivable. Yet this Wigan team do it time and again, and never seem to learn that it's a mistake. Again, it's a fault that can be traced back to poor coaching.

Agree with all of that, but I would also point the finger at the captain as well for letting it happen on the pitch.

I care about the performance. I go to watch the rugby because I enjoy the game. Whilst we did come away with the two points, it was hardly the most exciting of wins.
Rugby for me isn't always about the two points, it's about keeping me entertained and enthusiastic. This hasn't happened since the Saints game at Murrayfield.
The first 20 minutes were clinical. The rest was an absolute bore to watch.

I seem to remember in the days of the 'Jugernaught' bradford teams, they never used to switch off. Think this is more to do with attitude from the players than coaching. As switching off isnt exactly a new thing for Wigan teams is it.

Where were his feet when he jumped? That may have been it because his foot may have been on the whitewash from what I saw of it, and you are only as good as where you last touched the ground.
