Jack the thread is about Tery Newton.
As usual you try to de-rail into (player x or player y is cr@p), normally without any rationale.
Would you bring Terry Newton back to Wigan next season?

I don't think it's totally irrelevant. After all, Terry and Riddell are both hookers. But even given Riddell's lack of fitness and poor form, I'd have him over Terry. Terry's past it or at least very close to being. I'm sure he'd be a shadow of the player he was at Wigan.

| I was take Diskin over them both. Played really well over the last few seasons for Leeds.
I've heard reports that he has been unhappy with the way he's been pushed to one side for Glenn Medieros.

And you normally do the opposite. Telling us that Riddell is going to come good some time in the next century or so.
If I had the choice between Newton or Riddell next season, then my choice would be Newton. Even on one leg, he is ten times the player that Piggy is.

PS, if Newton is such a fantastic player, how come he has won only 1 trophy in SL ('02 CC IIRC, could be wrong, he might have won the grand total of 2)

| I think overseas players should be given a season to settle in and then during the second we can all pass judgement. Not all of them hit the ground running...

You get the feeling Terry's heart was never really in it at Bradford. I don't remember him playing well against us, and he certainly didn't want to leave us. But for whatever reason, he's not the player he was.
As for Riddell - some made their mind up not to be impressed by him from the start. Others don't like him because he was a Noble signing (or an IL signing, depending on which you believe). Personally, I wanted him to deliver, but it's difficult to pretend that I'm enthusiastic about him now. He may well improve dramatically, but it's going to have to start soon. For my money, Noble should drop him into the reserves. That certainly seemed to buck Tim Smith's ideas up.

The way I feel this morning, quite possibly. But it's not my knees that are hurting.

Because you've justified in your head Newton being rubbish by the amount of trophies he's won?
By your calculation Ricky Biby should be one of Englands greatest ever props as he’s got a cabinet full of medals???
Iestyn Harris has won far more than Barrett ever did but I know which one is the better player.
Long has won more lance todd trophies than Gregory and Edwards but I know who out of the three is the worst SH.
James Roby man of steel or Cunningham hasn’t won one? Who is the better player?
Get a grip

| Newton will be 31 before the next season of Superleague. Why would we want a player that old with "allegedly" bad knees to come back to Wigan when we don't need him?
We already have McIlorum, Riddell and Tommy who can do that job. (I also like the look of Sam Gee in the reserves.)
Another hooker is way down on the list of priorities.

Would you go with just Tommy L and Mc C if Riddell does go home ?
