"Tools" is of course too strong a word, but the people who regularly post the negatives can hardly be taken as representatives of Wigan fans as a whole, or indeed posters on this site as a whole.'"
Apart from the odd sensitive soul I doubt anyone actually finds them intimidating.
Most people who are saying "negative" things have actually qualified it and said they like what the group are doing and how they are improving the atmosphere at games. However for the most part the "negative" things being pointed out are due to the actions of individuals associating with the group and causing criminal damage or other forms of vandalism using Brigantes "branding". I doubt most people in the Brigantes want any part of that either so I don't know why it is causing so much consternation for some that something that actually happened is being discussed?
For me what is actually making things worse is the attitude of some posters who seem to be the unofficial/official spokesmen of the Brigantes with their childish name calling and extremely defensive attitude to any kind of opinion that is not happy with the vandalism, or who point something out. Their attitude has done the group a bigger disservice than a couple of S2s left about.

If you don't bother to go to the game when you live in the locality then you are not really a fan and therefore your views are invalid. It's simple.:icons39ad_files/4821-1859san_c-msnicons.jpg |

On the whole i agree with you. Sadly, those who make the most noise on either side, get the most attention.

spot on! luckily I asked a genuine question re the skulls and got a sensible answer but have seen other people ask sensible questions and get called or simply told come to the meeting but thats not going to possible for all fans to do.
I understand why Brigantes are sticking up for themselves as there are people on here who want to see them fail and have tried to mock but as a group you have to rise above it and try and inform and educate people to what it is you are hoping to achieve and you will get more people on board. At times it seems its your either with us or against us with the Brigantes and it shouldnt be like that no fan is better than the next and no ones views are more importnat than the next person.
You should keep up the good work with improving atmosphere at home and away games but rise above the negativity maybe even put you minutes from the meetings on here so your aims are documented to all fans and hopefully people will buy in it with donations and support

Thats the impression I have got from reading this thread also
The only answers that seem to be given are either churlish remarks telling people they are wrong or 'come to the next meeting'
No offence, but I dont personally have the time or inclination to attend a meeting just to be treated in the same way as the responses from various posters on this thread
This is supposed to be an open forum used for discussion on rugby league related topics yet certain posters seem incapable of having a discussion about this particular topic...

| Quote: - Neil - "Who are the tools? Oh sorry, can we not give some constructive feedback to your precious little group??
Personally as many have tirelessly said on the thread I like what the Brigantes are trying to do, the flags are brillant and the atmosphere is improving at home matches.
What I do not see the point in is the Brigantes image trying to class themselves as an "Ultra" with skulls etc and plastering stickers all over opposing clubs grounds and acting the big ones about it on twitter. This has been tirelessly made clear by a few posters but it seems that rather than take it on the chin you take the negative approach and call them 'tools.'
Get a grip ffs.'"
I appeciate constructive feedback and I have also discussed certain matters with people that are willing to discuss it in a constuctive manner, what is ridiculous is certain posters who, tend to wait for the slightest thing to go wrong and cant wait to jump all over it and claim "this is why I dont want to get involved" when in the real world, they were never going to "get involved" in the first place. Why are you getting so defensive? I wasn't aiming the "tool" part at you was I? Im absoulutely sick to death of explaining why people chose to use the name "ultra" so I wont go into that. However, the sticker and graffiti issue was duly noted and dealt with, which is what I mean by taking note of CONTRUCTIVE feedback.
As for "Gareths" posts, I dont understand mate, can you point out the "Childish" remarks and explain what you mean?
You wouldn't be treated any different to anyone else at a meeting, you tend to have to complete wrong idea of what this whole thing is about. One particular comment about people "inflicting unwanted noise" on you did make me laugh though, maybe you should try going watching snooker or something.

Who are you reffering to may I ask? I have searched through this thread and dont seem to be able to find any posts with anyone aiming abuse or childish name calling at anyone? I apologise is the word "tools" intimidated anyone, but its become apparent that certain people on this board seem to love picking out negatives and having a pop at a group that has done far more good than bad for the club. Each to there own anyway, nobody has been "forced" to get involved in anything.

No one has suggested calling someone a tool is intimidating, however I do find it childish to call it a number of people just because they have expressed a view you don't agree with. What we've also seen is the view expressed that some people are having a go simply because they are upset at the popularity of the Brigantes (I'm still trying to figure that one out) and that some are having a go because they've had run-in in the past on here with members of the Brigantes, although that probably says more about the person making that bizarre comment than those it was an accusation against.
As has been pointed out numerous times most people who have said anything you might regard as negative have stated they like what the group has done and is doing so why it is being portrayed as a whingeathon I don't know. It looks as though some people are being a little too sensitive given the over-reaction seen in this thread to certain opinions and views that aren't 100% positive.

I fully understand that people are entitled to an opinion and 90% of people who have given contructive critisism have been listened to and valued. However as I said, there seems to be a minority that cant wait to put the Brigantes down and have a go. I dont like how the group is being portrayed as seperate to other Wigan fans, that isn't what the group is trying to do.

I think most people who post or read this forum on a regular basis know who the "moaners" are, as they pretty much do it on every thread they contribute to and therefore I expect most people to take their views with a pinch of salt on most if not all subjects. Unfortunately some of the responses don't read like that distinction has always been made.

You might want to try and rethink that one.'"
Agreed. I was actually finding it amusing the thread till the sick posting of the Bradford fires, where some of the people on these boards myself included had family and friends involved.
Regarding the group the improving of the atmosphere has got to be a positive. But don't like the name ultra and the whole sticker posting thing. It will lead to trouble at grounds. All teams have a few idiots waiting for an excuse and plastering their ground with stickers will be the excuse they need

Probably the best and most sensible post on this thread.
