Cheers I hadn't seen that. Good to see we are looking. It's questionable what level of halfback would be available at this time of year, but at this point I'd willingly take an untried NRL reserve a-la Gelling/Hamlin to at least add competition for the shirt.

See I personally would rather us just wait for the right player rather than signing the best of us who's available at the moment. Its not a rule that you have to spend the full salary cap at all times.

I'd agree if we had a good halfback in there already, and just had cap space to spend on a luxury, but I see upgrading in the halves as a necessity. Despite Leuluai winning two Grand Finals at 7, I still don't feel comfortable going into a season with him there and Powell at 9. It just feels like a very weak spine, especially when you add in Lockers age/injury concerns, the possibility Hardaker could leave you in the lurch at any minute, and Williams' inconcistent form.

I sound like a doom monger after we have just won the Grand Final, but I do feel the potential is there for things to go very wrong, so better to do anything we can to strengthen ASAP.
