| Quote Last Son of Wigan="Last Son of Wigan"I agree it has. Team looks overall stronger with him at 7. But I think signing a 7 could take us even further. Maybe Lachlan Lam. However, talks about him coming to Wigan seem to have died down.'"
Agree.
It's been done to death slightly, but it's such a huge frustration that we have two such similar players in Leuluai & Powell! Wouldn't be as bad if Tommy looked ready to hang up his boots, but he's been excellent at 9 this year, it'd seem a terrible waste for us & him for him to retire prematurely.
A proper 7 would bring a new dimension to our attack, no doubt, but not sure where we're at with the salary cap. Could end up proving to be a tricky balancing act for Radlinski & Lam, especially considering I still think that we're short of a centre now that we're losing the cover that Bateman has given us.

In the centres we have
Sarg
Gildart
Hankinson
with cover from possibly:
Manfredi, Burgess, Isa
then a further layer of:
Forsyth. Mullen and Higginson
I'd love a Bill Tupou, but I think we might be set for 2019.

| I’ve been a critic of Wane and due to being on holiday and my wife unplugging the Sky Box I’ve only been able to see the tries rather than the whole match.
On the basis of that though you have to give first and foremost Wane a massive amount of credit he put a game plan together that Saints seemed totally unable to handle. Let’s hope we can do it consistently now for the rest of the year as I think Saints and more likely Wire in my opinion will be a major threat.

Pity you missed the whole thing, believe me when I say the tries & scoreline don't flatter us one little bit.
Biggest thing I took away was how knackered they looked when we had only just begun the second half. They'd just had a week off, and even just after half time we'd taken so much out of them that we were making meters for fun. Even when they ended up getting one back (very much against the run of play!) I don't think many were actually that worried about a comeback because it was so obvious that we had it over them physically.
No point getting back into the Wane debate now, but our fitness in the last few years has been absolutely amazing. Really hope that it's not something which is allowed to deteriorate when Wane leaves the building.

I have been and also still am in some respects a huge critic of Wane but that performance on Friday was absolutely outstanding in every department. Our defence was awesom, our attack was fluid and quick. GW looked like a HB with freedom and boy did he look the part, I can’t remember a game in a long time where I’ve thought GW was outstanding. Very unlucky not to get MOM IMHO, genuinely I think he deserved it but you can have no complaints over Greenwood getting it.
Absolute credit to Wane, the team was set up perfectly with the right balances throughout. Sarginson was awesome, Powell barely put a foot wrong. Essentially all the players singled out for criticism, and heavy criticism at that, were superb.
Without sounding pessimistic; I hope this just isn’t a one game wonder and we’re back to the usual drivel for the next game!

| Good point about Saints looking tired. They have played nearly their strongest team consistently throughout the year, not much rotation. It's fine when your team is high on confidence and winning.
Catalans exposed them and this wobble must have the self doubts creeping in - added to Barba's form falling away and talks of his departure.
On the other hand, we are looking fresh - players coming back from injuries and playing into form at the right time. Plenty of reasons to be optimistic about of chances at the big one.

| Powell looked like the player he was a few years ago.
Wane made a massive mistake in moving him to 7 and nearly ruined his career.
Edwards has had a word in Wanes shell...

That’s about as likely as someone claiming it’s was all part of Wane’s Master plan.
It wasn’t working as well as hoped, the coach changed it. Simples.

Wanes history.
Maybe the players are playing to impress their future managers.

Maybe, or more likely there focus is on trying to win a trophy this year.
Wane isn’t history quite yet but he does have a chance to make history over the next few weeks.

| People can question Wane tactically or criticise him for how stubborn he can be but I’ve never had any doubt the players have a great deal of feeling for him.
When he announced he was leaving and things went to pot some believed it was because the players had stopped playing for him when in my mind it was the complete opposite! The players were gutted about his departure and struggling to pick themselves up. They’ve now settled down and you can tell how determined they are to send him out on a high.
