| Quote: "I am currently watching the Baa baas vs Aus union game, its up to about the 65th min. This game has shown union exactly for what it is, a crap game with countless dropped balls, forward passes and knock ons. Honestly the baa baas scrum half and fly half cant even throw a pass without it going behind the attacking line. Sam has played well but has had little opportunity to get involved and on two occasions where he could have easily scored the pass to him was poor and went to ground. Hopefully this will demonstrate to him how boring the game is and that frankly he is too good for it. If joel is watching now he must be [ikicking[/i himself.'"
Good choice of words.

Slipped through the net. Was told he was too small to make 1st grade. His idol is Andrew Johns.
Someone in the NRL really need to look to sign him as his still very young and it would be another nail in the coffin for Rugby Union in Australia.

NRL salary cap in 2 years or so will be bigger than union so i can imagine him switching. i dont think people realise how much pulling power the NRL will have in the coming years. i can see sonny bill coming back also.

| I honestly fell asleep watching the game so I didn't see Tomkins' try. I don't call it Rugby Yawnion for nothing, the level of skill on display for professional sportsmen was diabolical.

| Sam is on what 300-400k at Wigan now? I seriously cannot see him moving to union for 25-30% more. He did not look impressed today, especially when there was a break on and that fat lad threw it behind him it was such an easy pass but he "butchered it" as one of the commentators said very often during the game!

Could someone please confirm if the biggest knocker of league Stuart Barnes said what I thought he did (soon after half time).
The Aussie standoff chipped over the top and a supporting player collected the ball.
I thought I heard Barnes come out with the following, " Tomkins showed his lack of posistional sense then,a good scrum half should have been covering back" Sam was on the ruddy wing and the chip was 20 yards in from touch.
Some were still waiting for him to make a mess of everything.

| I likened that game today to the varsity RL match we have on Sky Sports. Amateur at best.

Barnes was pretty fair to Tomkins today. In that situation he was saying that the winger should have been watching for the chip over the top and that the scrum half was smart to cover. Barnes was right but Tomkins was never going to be able to realise that in his first ever game of union.

| With the exception of Sam, for me there was only Ioane, O'Connor and Habana good enough to play for a League team and two of them have had League experience.

Not quite the case.
A wing in Union should have been rapping round to cover the chip over, Barnes made the point Sam did not so the Fijian scrum half had to cover it and make up for Sams lack of positional sense in the foreign code.

| Barnes is an imbecile anyway. Even Rugby fans hate him.
Do you know that Stuart Barnes once said, and he still stands by it, that if you throw the ball backwards and it bounces and then goes forward, that it's a forward pass.
The man is an idiot, and a racist.

| The Aussie captain Pocock ? would make a very good second rower/prop IMO.

| I didn't rate any of the RU players today to be honest. If rugby is about the fundamentals of running, passing and tackling then they were all dismally poor.
I thought Tomkins did ok considering he probably hadn't a clue what was going on and just relied on natural instinct. It will speed up his departure though there's no doubt about that - contract or no contract. England will already have him lined up as their next superstar. Let's face it they need one.
He can sit back and wait for the offers to roll in.

| Laughable game today... only time Barbarians looked threatening was when Habana got the ball in space, that number 13 for them is utter e, cocked up two chances and every time he threw a pass to Sam he was having to dive on it
I'll be stunned if he ever crosses to Union... might do better elsewhere. But he just isn't a winger, he needs to see more of the ball in space.

He'll make a good Union Full Back or possibly outside centre where he 'may' see a bit more of the ball. It's not the positioning that will appeal to him. It's the cash.
