| I can't believe what I've read on this thread? Finch is really coming good and reminds me of when Pat first came. An indifferent start but worth his weight in gold now!!
Marsh is not a bad player but for me he's nowhere near good enough for Wigan and doesn't have the potential to be. Simple fact is that Madge has been right in his selections for me. Hoff has been a brilliant player for us, Lima has really come good again after a dodgy start and Finch is really leading us round the park.
Joel is a 2nd rower but better in centre than marsh. Goulding has played over 100 games and is a very capable squad player. Charnley is setting that wing on fire! Out of all of them, I'd let marsh go elsewhere and keep the others.

Our overseas signings are not the standard that they once where, Finch Vs Barrett
We can't attract the likes of Trent Barrett anymore. Look at the 90s, we sold Longy and kept Henry Paul, at the time it made sense, Henry was the better player, but he left, Longy won a million trophies with the Saints. Longy is home grown, and may have shown Wigan the loyalty that he shown the saints. Henry wanted money, hence the move the union.
Signing Ozzies is a dangerous and expensive policy. Our young players should be allowed to make mistakes and learn.
We need to develop our youth, is this so difficult to understand?
I wish the fans would show more loyalty to the Wigan lads than the expensive Ozzies. Its lunacy

We are developing our youth.
You keep going on about Finch - we don't have a home-grown half back to take his place (or if we put Sam there, we don't have a home-grown fullback).
Same with Lima, he's not keeping a home-grown prop out.
Hoffman, maybe, but if you're saying Tuson or Farrell is a better player, you're mistaken.
The players keeping Goulding and Marsh out are Charnley and Joel T.

No you're wrong, we have no English players in our team, no youth policy, and our youth teams never win trophies. It's a wonder we aren't thrown out of the league for breaking the spirit of playing homegrown players.
The sad fact is, there isn't enough English players of the required quality to play an all English team. There is no ifs or buts about this. MB would you rather Wigan played with an all English squad (that would have to include some players who really aren't at the required level yet) and finished 5/6 or would you rather we used the squad we have now and won the league AGAIN?

| I'm fairly sure this Mash Butty guy was sat in front of me at the Castleford match, all the guy kept going on about was how there's no point signing players from Oz because the ones we've signed don't do any better than local lads.
His crazy words, not mine.

No it wasn't me, but it sounds like he has a brain. Sad to see one of the Ozzies you've been ravin about has decided to go back home. This means we can put Joel back to second row where he belongs and then we can get one of the kids at centre some good experience for next year. Back to square one.
Wigan youths 1 Ozzie mercenaries NIL

| What an idiot. Wigan are top of the league for god sake!
That should always be the priority.
Also, to say that the 3 signings haven't benefited us is ridiculous.

| I'm glad he's staying hes the best centre in SL, but we do need a replacement the year after agreed?
Anyway theres another point to make
You may see that R Murdock, the largest stakeholder in BSKYB has a few problems at the moment, Its Murdocks money that saved Rugby in this country remember? Theres no doubt he's going to have a lot of lawsuits from the UK and the US. Which means hes going to be short of money. Would he back out of funding football ? no way he has a huge global market to sell it to. However if he needs to save a few quid would he cut the funds to SL ? He wouldn't think twice about it,, therefore ALL SL clubs would be short of money, therefore you couldn't afford to sign any Ozzies.
Also look at the Maguire, legendary coach thread. Lots of mentions of DW and Nobby setting up all the facilities to develop the youth system. Lets make sure we take the lead should Murdock pull out....

Rupert Murdoch only owns 39% of BSKYB, which made close to £1billion profit last year, so if he has to pull out I'm sure there would be lots of potential buyers.
