Lomax and Sailor are looking like one of the leagues worst half back pairings.
No kicking game between them and I saw no evidence of a running game from Sailor.
Welsby was trying his heart out last night but can’t do it alone.
Sadly I couldn't agree more with this, you are absolutely bang on. Unfortunately unless he gets inured Lomax will not be dropped, he's Wellens big mate and the club captain. It's sad to see that Lomax is finished and unbelievably he still has a contract for next season. Wellens talks about how good Whitby has looked at Halifax and for the Reserves and that he will get his opportunity but with the games coming up Wellens is fighting for his job. Catalan A (we nearly always lose there even in the good ol Holbrook/Woolf days) then Warrington A in the Cup and Wigan coming up. We could conceivably lose all three of those and even if we beat Wakefield at home that would mean he's lost 5 out of the last 7 games. That may be enough (fingers crossed) for McManus to pull the plug.

Saints remind me quite a bit of Wigan under Lam when Hastings was here.Hastings wanted (and was allowed) to be conductor, lead violinist, piano player and drummer. I think something similar is happening with Welsby at Saints. We also signed an unfit Burgess and the likes of Bibby and Singleton.

| Home ends sold out for Good Friday and only a few hundred left in the away end, great effort with three weeks to go

| As of last night there were less than 350 left for the away end which as apollosghost says above, there are still nearly 3 weeks to go.
It's a decent effort considering that most Saints fans I know are thinking the same as me that we could be on for a hiding!

| It can't be long until Wellens gets the chop? 4 years without getting to the CC final, 2 years without getting to a SL GF and a tough run of fixtures coming up which could see them slip down the table.

| For all the "Wigan would be bang average without French and Field" it''d be god help Saints if they lost Welsby, one of the best defensive displays I've seen from a fb for a long while today and looked their only real threat going forward. Shame for him that loose pass finally killed the game off but credit to Wire for spotting Saints were shot to pieces on their right hand side and taking advantage of it.

| They're just not right St Helens. Ageing players, injuries, no kicker and no cutting edge in attack.
Sailor was atrocious.

| I just hope they don't do anything stupid like sack Wellens before GF. If he continues to play that team that he basically has done all season I'll be bitterly disappointed if we don't dismantle them like we did Wire.

| I really hope we see the excitement levels and the concentration levels of the players pick up for the next two Fridays. I fully understand them being a bit off since Vegas but now Is the time to really give it everything for a few weeks.

Yep, next 5 games are against the rest of the current top 6, time to put a marker down

| Wellens has to go doesn't he. They were dreadful last night and they've been pretty poor throughout the season so far. I find them a boring watch.
I think Wellens has tried to be proactive to sort their attack out but he dropped the wrong player. Sailor is a passenger and shouldn't be starting. Welsby is not a half, he should be at fullback. Pinning your hopes on an 18 year old kid to steer the side round is not going to work when the team isn't playing well, no matter how much of a prospect he is. I think a lot of the senior players are letting Wellens down but ultimately its his responsbility to get them playing.
Saints' record against the top 6 since he became head coach sums it up. He's not the man to take them forward. Hopefully they give him a new contract!
