I'd have to say Wigan.

But like many, I obviously would like to see England win the World Cup.

I agree we must not select a large number of players who have no chance of making 2013 but a sprinkling will be needed especially up front.

Back to the original topic i firmly believe that although i would rather see England be successful than Wigan, for an English team to be successful we need a strong Wigan team in SL.

Quote: Odemwingie "I think everyone would find themselves loving it if we won the WC or the ashes. The atmosphere in the early tri nations series showed how much it means to alot of fans, we need to repeat those big close games and then win some and start moving to bigger stadiums. I wish the RFL had enough money to build a 40,000 seater stadium for our international game. Something like the JJB but filled in with seats in the corners. We do not have a home and it sets us appart from other sports when they have Lords, Wembley, Twickenham, Wimbledon, we need a home, in the north.'"

How would it be pratical to build a 40,000 seat stadium? Too small for the GF and the CC final, and too big for semis. SO pretty much one or two internationals a year. That would be such a waste of money. We dont have a national stadium because we dont have the money or the need for one.

No we dont, what an arrogant statement. For a successful England team we need a strong Superleague. We need players from different teams and not just the top 2, like in the NRL. Its not all about Wigan and lets face it, it rarely is anyway these days...

i think going off the history and current state of the academy and reserves teams its showing that the best young talent is in the wigan area, argue as you want but between wigan, saints and leeds is split the majority of the best youth, mainly wigan out of the 3.

It would quite likely benefit England were wigan to have a strong team because in the age of the salary cap it would mean that a lot of the team would be through the academy and hence eligable for England.

Overall super league has to become stronger, but i think a big part in this happening on the international scene is wigan becoming strong because they have the potential with the setup and youth to be up there challenging at the top if managed correctly/

Without a viable and vibrant international competition with a competitive national side this game is in danger of dying on its @r$e.

The big money to sports bodies these days is in international competition, rugby union has known this for years and used that as a means of subsidising its teams, especially in their pretend amateur days, to keep their clubs alive.

Cricket wouldn't survive at all witout international cricket to fund the rest of the game.

If you put your club before internationals then you are voting for the slow death of rugby league as a fully professional sport.

Give me ANY international victory over any club game anytime.

Dropkick Murphy..we actually saw and heard a mass of bouncing and scarf and flag waving to Dale Cavese that drowned out anything we could muster.. It stopped us singing our own celebratory songs, it died out seconds later when we accepted we couldn't be heard over the Wigan lot Celebrations muted from us, job done from them. Most fans who slag them off are jealous their own club's support is nowhere near that good - sally cinnamon..Why not discuss Wigan? It's a rugby league message board. Wigan are the most famous brand in rugby league - Tre Cool..Saints fans are hopeless unless it's a cup final or grand final. Wigan fans are so much more loyal and passionate - the flying biscuit..Wires havent been massively succesful over the years, but I've spoke to Brian Bevan And he spoke to me and i wouldnt swap that for Wigans History, ever - Ande..on the TV i could only hear the Wigan fans with about 10 to go - Saint94..Every team is in your feckin shadow, we all know - FIOS:d7dc4b20b2c2dd7b76ac6eac29d5604e_39110.jpg

I must admit I did not think about Grand final and CC final. Maybe abit more then. We could make money of it as well letting it be used for gigs and other events and maybe getting a football team to play there.

SAINTS THE ORIGINAL AND PERENNIAL CHEATS For sale full Saints kit (circa 1989). Shirts in pristine condition, but shorts badly soiled. For 27 - 0 you get a trophy For 75 - 0 you get sod all. Wigan had eight in a row Saints have five in a row:d7dc4b20b2c2dd7b76ac6eac29d5604e_3076.jpg

That is 100% correct. We need a strong and vibrant International competition.

The other thing it does is to give kids a greater appreciation of the game and a desire to get to the top.

I wont argue that the talent is in the area and that there are only a few good youth set-ups, but that’s the problem. There needs to be a far better youth set up throughout Super league. Wigan have had many young players go through the ranks and then leave, so i dont see how just a strong Wigan would suddenly improve the England team. Many teams have the potential to produce youth, but there just isn’t enough investment in it throughout the league and the RFL.

If we are talking long term I agree, but for the 2013 World Cup then we need a strong Wigan converting these juniors as we now seem to be capable of doing.

I would also add a strong league also needs a strong Wigan for the same reason ie getting quality young players into the system.

i would say short term next 10 years of so England need a strong Leeds, Saints, Wigan and Bradford, they also need to build the league and development structure but this is not going to happen in this timescale.

Personally I don't think it's possible to choose between the two.

Wigan - our hometown and a club the vast majority of us have followed since our birth.

England - our country, one we've lived in all our lives and one our elders have had to bloody fight for and thus will support regardless of what sport.

Thing is, we dont have to choose between the 2, we have the league season and once we've finished with that we get the Internationals. Apart from the 1 mid season game, the International program doesnt clash, so we can have both icon_wink.gif
