Yeah we can say that now but when we signed him not many people thought he wasn't worth that wage. It's hardly his fault Uncle Mo threw money at him. Having said that sometimes I think he isn't earning his wage but most I think he does, IMO he can be the most hard-working player for Wigan - although that statement is laughable if you take into account the stats from Leeds.
I want Fielden to stay, I just think he needs more help in the front row. Feka doesn't do long enough for me - granted he works hard when he's on and he makes some terrific runs and yards but IMO he needs to work harder on his match fitness. We need a new prop.

He is. Seeing him with no top on (no jokes please) he looks like a body builder, he's got a great physique with plenty of lean muscle. However it's hardly the perfect build for a prop forward is it. Realistically before next season he could put a stone on and whilst he might not look as good on the beach at least he might not get smashed in half his carries.

I agree but I get the impression that Fielden is intent on keeping his huge muscular frame, Noble told him to 'go and get fat' at end of last season, he never did.
Credit to Fielden, he's keeping his build because he wants to be the best athlete he can be, sometimes it work's against him. What people don't realise is that Fielden puts his all in, it comes off sometimes, others it doesn't but no-one could fault him on his effort and desire.

What if he is gun shy though? Many believe he lost it after Mason punched his lights out. You can have the greatest physique in the world but the willingness to drive it in?

| If it really is true that Fielden only made 3 carries all game and as I said before it wouldn't surprise me, he deserves to be flogged in training this week.

Exactly, maybe it is he's lost some of his 'bottle' after all in that one year he did suffer alot mentally, emotionally and physically death of a parent and the knock-out blow from Mason.
Is all that still on his mind? Maybe so, but if it is he should use it as a motivator, as a powerful tool to relive his "glory days". He's still a good player but if he wishes to be great he needs to block whatever it is thats stopping him, out.

| I think we've been waiting too long for him to get back to his best. I like the guy and can't fault his effort of commitment most weeks but this isn't a bad run of form. This is years of play below the standard we hoped for when we signed him and I just don't think he's ever going to regain the level he was when people were, quite rightly, calling him the best prop in the world. Once his deal is up, he'll be offered much less, I think. I still believe he can do a job for us, as in the latter half of 2008 without ever getting back his Bradford form, but the club will have to make a commercial decision on him. For all Noble's closeness with him, Lenagan may make the final call on this one.

| Last season when he had the captaincy for a few games was the time he had his best spell at Wigan, why not make him captain again? We have nothing to lose as our present capt is breaking no pots and whilst on about props I think Feka`s tackling is very poor, he may make a couple of decent efforts throughout a game but overall is not up to standard.

Worth a try. I like Lockers as much as anyone, but his captaincy is hardly sensational.

I think it is definitely worth a shot even if it is making him co captain
We all know Stu has it in him and I think if he got back to his end of 2008 form no-one would complain about him and think he does a decent job for us
Anyone think we should spend a pile of money on a decent sports psychologist? Fielden and Hock could both do with one

I totally agree, Fielden had his best spell when made captain last season and I thought he relishes it to IMO....Lets Lockers play his natural game without the added captains pressure it brings
