Letting youngsters go is a thing of the past, part of the Mo/Whelan era, we wont let the important youngsters go who are a part of our future with Lenegan in charge, no doubt about that. So anwar1983huddersfield's trolling attempt is a moo point anyway.

Quote: Grimmy "It has but there aren't that many we'd have back. The only youngsters we let go who I would have in the first team now are Briscoe, Long and Wild.'"

Wild's one that interests me tbh.

He seems to have built up quite a reputation in his time at Huddersfield but bar one season a couple of years ago i'm not sure why. He does a job don't get me wrong but when people start talking of international calls ups and i read Huddersfield fans saying he's better then guys like O'Loughlin it makes me chuckle.

He's a decent superleague player but I wouldn't have him back if he were available.

Briscoe over Phelps would be a very tough call

As for Long I woldn't have him back now after all the stuff thats gone on down the years. The majority of fans just wouldn't take to him but he has been a world class player. He'll always be the biggest mistake in terms of youngsters we let go we've ever made but even that had circumstances around it beyond rugby.

HUDDERSFIELD - THE BIRTHPLACE OF RUGBY LEAGUE:d7dc4b20b2c2dd7b76ac6eac29d5604e_43854.jpg

kevin brown is a very good player, somebody mentioned on this forum that he has a poor defence but i can assure you he doesnt anymore, like the whole huddersfield team hes great.
he has put on a lot of size since he left your team and very strong now... important player for us as we saw last season when he got injured in the cup final... we lost direction and couldnt score!
expected to have a big season this time round.

also stephen wild is a tackling machine!!

think wigan will have a good season this year, phelps a top player... surprised you let flanaghan go though he looked good.

Glad brown and wild has turned out good, not a dig, but perhaps being at a team with less preassure than wigan is what some need. For a long time in his wigan career, wild was the invisible man when it was going bad.

For the record, we didnt let Flanaghan go, he wanted to go to Aus to be with his girlfriend!

Wild is the same type of player as Hansen but a bit better IMO. I prefer Briscoe to Phelps because Briscoe's the better defender and he scores more tries. Phelps is a bit better at setting tries up though, plus he has a better kicking game, IMO he's more of a stand off than a full back.

He choose to go because he wasn't getting any game at the time he made his mind up.

That one was Nobles fault and it is a shame but Ian Lenagan seems hopefull we'll get first refusal on him when/if he decides to come back.

I don't agree. Yes they are similar but Hansens discipline wins it for me.

Back to the original discussion Kevin Brown is the only one of our released players I would like back at Wigan, maybe Briscoe also.
He was unfortunate to be in the right place at the wrong time when Millward was around. I know of one superleague coach who uses Brown as a great example of how NOT to develop a good young player.

If Brown were here now or if he were to come back in the next year or 2 I could only see a place for him at centre to replace Carmont.

Theres no obvious place at Stand off thats for sure.

I've always believed he was a natural stand off, so I would play him there, with Sam at 7.

It's hard to believe that Brown is still only 25 years of age.

The comparison between Wild and O'Loughlin interests me alot after having a debate with a Giants fan before the four nations last season. This Hudds fan reckoned O'Loughlin wasn't deserving of a place in the squad and that Wild was a much better player.

Now I know stats don't tell the full story but they at least give an indication that Lockers is head and shoulders above Wild in almost every area of the game.

Wild is around the same level as Harrison Hansen and it'd be a tough one to call but Hansen is younger and has more room for improvment imo.

Dropkick Murphy..we actually saw and heard a mass of bouncing and scarf and flag waving to Dale Cavese that drowned out anything we could muster.. It stopped us singing our own celebratory songs, it died out seconds later when we accepted we couldn't be heard over the Wigan lot Celebrations muted from us, job done from them. Most fans who slag them off are jealous their own club's support is nowhere near that good - sally cinnamon..Why not discuss Wigan? It's a rugby league message board. Wigan are the most famous brand in rugby league - Tre Cool..Saints fans are hopeless unless it's a cup final or grand final. Wigan fans are so much more loyal and passionate - the flying biscuit..Wires havent been massively succesful over the years, but I've spoke to Brian Bevan And he spoke to me and i wouldnt swap that for Wigans History, ever - Ande..on the TV i could only hear the Wigan fans with about 10 to go - Saint94..Every team is in your feckin shadow, we all know - FIOS:d7dc4b20b2c2dd7b76ac6eac29d5604e_39110.jpg

To be honest if we have true ambition to dominate all competitions, then Brown cannot be our half-back.
Great game of rugby league. Fantastic atmosphere, Wigan were breathtaking and dominant in all areas for the first 25 minutes, coupled with us making alot of dumb mistakes, then fortunately they brought McIlorum on which helped us back into the game. I thought some of the tries we scored to get us within two we're out of this world stuff. Towards the end we had to force it a little and we had a few things go wrong, i.e Monas kick on the first for King and Solomona going off who was causing havoc. Wigan were clinical in their eventual execution of us. Proud of Wire today and gave us a little glimpse to the future. Silverwood was awful as per, but I expect no less. Tomkins is a world class player and by far the best english player in SL. Wigan are a champion side and would be a worthy winner of taking our title as challenge cup. Good luck over the next month and a bit.
:d7dc4b20b2c2dd7b76ac6eac29d5604e_23997.jpg

The fact is half of super league are from wigan and like it or not lancashire has miles more young talent then over the pens
