| Quote: Doseymarker "I applaud the honesty from the wigan fans who are dissapointed with last nights defeat.
Yes, I thought Wigan huffed and puffed but all this "the derby is back" love in is making me puke.
It wasnt a good game last night, Saints looked jaded( and who can blame us), didnt really fire in attack, and I cant remember the last time we lost the ball so much.
Despite this we showed how top sides win.
Defensively saints put in a good performance against a team that lets face it has very little in the way of attacking ideas and took our chances well.
Despite what many wigan fans hope and pray - saints are rebuilding Wigan are STILL going backwards.
You have a smattering of talented youngsters but they will struggle under the weight of expectation and reliance on them unless you sign more quality.
I cant understand why the purse strings were loosened to buy gleeson now when they stayed firmly shut when Barrett left.
3 wins from 9 including one win against a promoted team and the gifted win at Harlequins isn't progress.'"
So Saints deliberately let Hock 'score' Roberts just fail to take the ball from Tompkin's perfectly weighted kick or somehow made the ball fall badly when he kicked through with the line gaping all of which would have won us the game. "Did enough to win"? Were comprehensively outplayed and were lucky to get the 2 points. See the posts from the more reasonable of your fans and try to get some balance. Saints proved their class in their goal line defence and the fact that they took their tries when the chances came their way even when not playing well, but don't kid yourself that you were anything but lucky on the day.

| Wigan won't be far off if we can get to that standard consistently. We'll only get better as well when the under performers get shown the door and some decent recruitment.
The loss of Cunningham to Saints will hurt them hugely. He and the fact that he had a bigger, stronger pack were the main reasons why Saints won that game. That won't be the case in the next couple of years.
Keep the patience, our time will come.

| with the efforts of Wigan, and how they dominated possesion and feild positon, i am pleased and happy even though we lost. If we play like that against any other team we will run riot. YES we should have converted our chances and were unlucky with that flukey Pryce try - the ball just dropped into his hands!
People who are sitting here saying "We lost, we must of played rubbish" obv. no nothing about how a team can play well and lose. Remember we were playing St. Helens, one of the best dfnesive teams in the league.
On shaun ainscough, the first time i saw him play at Warrington preseason (pink kit game) i said the exact same thing how he is another jason robinson, just how he carrys the ball in two hands, his small and wide structure.
Overall, Very happy with the Wigans efforts!!!

One team has to lose (unless its a draw ), therefore two excellent teams could play and the losers would still be worthy of praise. (I'm not saying either team was excellent BTW. This current Saints team couldn't live with say the 2005 Bratfut side, let alone the great Wigan sides of the early-mid 90s).
I applauded the Wigan team last night. They tried hard and didn't disgrace the famous Cherry and White shirt.
I didn't and wouldn't applaud BN though. He simply isn't performing and needs to go.

although not as good as keiron they still have roby and a knack of attracting very good aussies i wouldn't be surprised if they unveiled cameron smith as their new replacement

| Wigan were full of effort and deserve credit for their attitude and approach to the game.
Fact is though that we had played Leeds in battle royals twice in a fortnight, one of which was 4 days prior, with a tough trip to Wakey in between.
Factor in a weakened team and the likes of Hull/Kr/Cas/Hudds would have hammered us last night.

23997_1287161421.jpg
Great game of rugby league. Fantastic atmosphere, Wigan were breathtaking and dominant in all areas for the first 25 minutes, coupled with us making alot of dumb mistakes, then fortunately they brought McIlorum on which helped us back into the game. I thought some of the tries we scored to get us within two we're out of this world stuff. Towards the end we had to force it a little and we had a few things go wrong, i.e Monas kick on the first for King and Solomona going off who was causing havoc. Wigan were clinical in their eventual execution of us. Proud of Wire today and gave us a little glimpse to the future. Silverwood was awful as per, but I expect no less. Tomkins is a world class player and by far the best english player in SL. Wigan are a champion side and would be a worthy winner of taking our title as challenge cup. Good luck over the next month and a bit.
:d7dc4b20b2c2dd7b76ac6eac29d5604e_23997.jpg |

| Quote: ray13 "Coming off the ground tonight loads of people were saying how well we played what a load of rubbish we lost. yes we lost once again at home for the fourth time , out of five games at home we have lost four this is simply not good enough look at the league tables tomorrow and see were we are . This is Wigan RLFC not some middle of the table side and the sooner the players and the coaching staff realise this then we might see some improvement . Lets have some pride in playing for WIGAN and get us back were we belong and not having teams taking the mickey out of us.'" Here we go knew this was coming
If the players play with that passion every week i'll be happy win or lose, over the last few years we have hadplayersnot wanting to play with pride just collect there pay check now we have some good wigan lads coming through who want to play for the club and care about what the badge means

| Well a few weeks ago the majority of Wigan fans said they dont mind losing if the team show effort. The team put in a huge performance last night and everybody knows that Wigan outplayed Saints for the majority of the game. In the end what won Saints the game was a superb defensive effort and their experience of knowing how to win a tight game. The difference in the end was a speculative bomb followed by a lucky bounce straight into the arms of Pryce.
Like it or not there is no disgrace in narrowly losing to Saints. They are the best team in SL by far. They have just demonstrated that by totally dismantling Leeds. Had we had the bounce of the ball we would all be celebrating victory today. Thats the way it goes.

39110_1363272058.jpg Dropkick Murphy..we actually saw and heard a mass of bouncing and scarf and flag waving to Dale Cavese that drowned out anything we could muster.. It stopped us singing our own celebratory songs, it died out seconds later when we accepted we couldn't be heard over the Wigan lot
Celebrations muted from us, job done from them. Most fans who slag them off are jealous their own club's support is nowhere near that good
-
sally cinnamon..Why not discuss Wigan? It's a rugby league message board. Wigan are the most famous brand in rugby league
-
Tre Cool..Saints fans are hopeless unless it's a cup final or grand final. Wigan fans are so much more loyal and passionate
-
the flying biscuit..Wires havent been massively succesful over the years, but I've spoke to Brian Bevan And he spoke to me and i wouldnt swap that for Wigans History, ever
-
Ande..on the TV i could only hear the Wigan fans with about 10 to go
-
Saint94..Every team is in your feckin shadow, we all know

Thanks most saints fans just say saints were poor but tbh I thought we made you look poor for most of the game, many of your errors were forced.

Exactly. Most of Saints errors came from our own superb defence and harrassing the Saints ball carrier.Only twice did we switch off in defence, once for the Cunningham try but full credit to KFC he has always been able to score those kind of trys and the other time Carmont charged out of the line allowing Gidley space to dive over. Unfortunately those 2 lapses Saints took advantage of but thats the kind of team they are. Their winning try came from a speculative bomb that we failed to deal with and the bounce of the ball could not of been more lucky for Pryce.
