You are right mate. I spoke with Junior tonight and he confirmed that he went to Shevington.

| I’d have taken that result prior to the game in a heartbeat.
We now have the edge so I expect a professional game plan against Leeds next Saturday.
Dupree will be a welcome returnee next week and I hope young Nsemba keeps his place in the 17.
A dry week expected weather wise and I’m hopeful that we can address our poor performance at the JJB.
Not sure if O’Neil was carrying an injury but he was below par tonight compared to his usual high standards.
Interesting times.

| I thought that Faz’s performance was the best I have seen from him for a while.

| We're clicking into gear alright. Our defensive intensity at the moment is unbelievable, I don't think any side currently is matching it. It all comes down to how we perform in a semi final, but the signs are good.
To think we have Dupree and Havard or Isa (depending on who returns) to come back into the pack is good. The pack at the moment are mullering their opposite numbers.

Funny enough I did after the game with Byrne and Ellis.
You must have been in the queue with me
Must admit I felt like a small man standing next to them monsters.

| Timing seems to be perfect with ramping up the desire etc, could be a great end to this season.
I did think Field was MOM not just because of the try he scored on half time.

Dupree will come in for Shorrocks next week but if Havard is fit for the playoffs then that will be an interesting decision for Peet.

| Workmanlike performance and we are hitting our stride at the right time of the season, the thing is I honestly think we have a lot more to offer, if we can get a little bit more cohesion in attack we could jump up another notch and with our recruitment for next year looking so good I think this could be the start of a good period for the club. A big experienced second rower addition from the NRL for next season would be the icing on the cake and really make us the team to beat.

| Quote: Pie_Eyter "Another superb performance to the detriment of some very iffy ref calls in the first half. Byrne was immense again. Since he got dropped, he has turned into an absolute machine.
At the beginning of the season we had Byrne, Nsemba, Hill, O'neill and to a lesser extent Havard who were a bit undercooked for first grade along with being very weak in the centres. Going into 2024 these lot will be like new signings added to the actual new signings with more experience behind them. Such a shame it looks like King is going back. He suits this side so well.
I have to say, discipline recently has been outstanding and this all stems from Smithies. He seems to have lost his childish niggle and when provoked, reacts in a positive way and just runs harder next time. He really is maturing into a top class loose forward. International honours next year is a certainty. When Smithies keeps a cool head, the whole squad seems to respond in the same way.'"
Smithies doesn’t need to be fired up by big hits/fights with the opposition he is naturally competitive. He seems to have matured, he would be a good option for captain in the future.

I was thinking about this a couple of days ago. If Havard and Isa get back for the play offs, what do we do? I think the form of Mago and Nsemba in particular, make you think we maybe just bring one back but in Isa and Havard, you probably have the two naturally fittest forwards in the club (after Faz), so those concerns aren’t really there. I think Havard and Dupree for Shorrocks and Nsemba would probably be the two changes I’d make for a big knock out game (if we had the choice).

| If Havard comes back and is fit, then he gets in the match day squad imo
Mago, Dupree, Havard and Powell is as good of a bench as I can remember.
Speaking of Powell, I felt a lot more comfortable with him on the bench Vs what I would have done with Cust in there. I think he's playing a big part in tightening up our defence.

Yes I agree - Smithies can always move to 2nd row if there's an injury mid game.

Minus Isa and Cooper, Powell had to come in, if only for experience. He looks refreshed though but maybe we’re just refreshed as fans. Powell is a punchbag when things go wrong and gets little praise when they go right. It isn’t flashy what he’s doing but it’s effective in this current team.

| The good news about last night, apart from winning, was that Smithies and O’Neill got a good rest. They have both been excellent over the last few weeks and having them fresh for the run in will be good.

Agree with all of this except I’d put Nsemba in and take Mago out. I think it gives us a more balanced squad as Smithies and KPP could cover as prop if required.
