I can see some merit in your 2 minute idea to be fair. Agree with the ban though for sure. It is frustrating that people are focusing the blame for this on the officials rather than the teams though. They are ultimately the ones exploiting the rules. The officials aren't medically qualified and you can imagine how bad it would be if an official ignored a head injury and it turned out to be serious.

No-one as far as I can see has blamed the officials - and I have 100% blamed the coaches/players in numerous posts
But I have to pick you up on the officials not being medically trained - No-one is suggesting they are or should be (I suppose an appreciation of the signs of concussion etc would be good) the whole argument is that they don't need to stop the game for the trainer/physio/medical team to come on the field to assess it as the medical team are allowed to come on the field at any point to assess the player.
The game didn't stop for Powell's injury, quite rightly, so how does stopping the game improve Josh Jones treatment and in the mean time the game stops for over a minute for nothing.
And I suppose the argument back will be how do we know Josh Jones is injured or not, and the answer is we don't, and that's what's being exploited by the players and coaches. And if the game doesn't act or the teams/players/coaches don't show some self policing/responsibility for their actions to the game then were in trouble.
Were creating rules to protect the game against exploitation by coaches/players and then they're finding ways of exploiting the new rules so we create more rules on top of that etc.etc.
Said it before on numerous subjects - Don't take a drop out in 25/30 seconds penalise the team - end of - they won't do it again
Pack down with the wrong number of players in a scrum - Penalise them - end of
I could go on as you imagine

| 52nd/53rd minute case in point
Game already stopped twice in 2nd half
Wigan get a number of repeat sets and Hudds player goes down injured OUTSIDE of the field of play. Referee plays on and Hudds players screaming for game to be stopped.
Hudds players knocks ball down for a knock on and player is being treated still off field, so what do Hudds do?
A player goes down injured in the field of play, trainer comes on, they spend a minute or so pretending to be dealing with an injury whilst all the while looking at injured player off the field waiting for him to recover.
Miraculously injured player off the field comes back on and hudds player on the field is suddenly OK to carry on.
2 more stoppages in the next 3mins of the game (1 deffo understable) but the frustration is already there due to the ridiculous stoppages occurring earlier.
3minutes later, another repeat set after Marshall kick and guess what?
Player goes down injured due to legitimate head knock and leaves the field with cut eye, but once again frustration as its the 5th/6th stoppages in less than 20mins of rugby.
1minute later Tommy gets head knock and leaves field 6th/7th stoppages, I'm losing count.
EDIT - It was the 8th stoppage in the first 20mins of the 2nd half - 2mins later Harry Smith scores and Wigan go in front
Last 20mins 1 stoppage - When Powell got a head knock and left the field - so we use a Sub
No Huddersfield players go down last 20 when they're behind

| The RFL are citing more and more players after games , banning and also fining them . They also fine clubs for instances like overcelebrating , following a try for example . The RFL are skint and are fining players and clubs ( pro and amateur) to prop up their own finances . They are also trying to make players , officials and volunteers from all amateur clubs pay an annual subscription to the RFL . So instead of finding some proper meaningful lucrative sponsorship , the RFL plan to ‘tax’ grassroots RL . They have no shame

| There is no consistency in the citing's and suspensions as each week, the panel is made up of different people, which is not a good situation as it can lead to inconsistency in the judgement of incidents.
What should also concern supporters is the way that there seems to an agenda against certain clubs and certain players where citing's and suspensions are concerned.
There is something badly wrong when you are getting former players and club chairmen/owners speaking out about the judgements being made by the present system.

I think that's the 1st time I've ever agreed with anything Wakey have put out there.
Like I said a couple of days ago, the officials of the game are running it. They are more obsessed with the options of middle class mums who "won't let their little darlings play a sport like rugby" because it's too violent.
I'll say it now - head knocks and long term injuries are part and parcel of the game. I'll go further and say that biff was also a key ingredient in what made the game great. I watched SOO yesterday and the ref ruined it, every time there was a bit of pushing and shoving he sticks the stop clock on etc. It completely ignores the fact those instances got the crowd going, or on a wider points that it's what people want to see. Millions tuned in to see McGregor try and batter someone in the ring last week - there's an audience for violent sport.
Refs (like the one at the weekend) are obviously lads who've never played the game at a high level. They were the runts at school who couldn't get picked, so they take up reffing. They are soft by nature and now they are in positions of power, the game is going to pot.

They're following the rules the clubs have voted for.
