Apparently a big reason why Wane has jacked it in, he asked if the money recouped from all our departures would be put back into the team, was told no and to bring youth through instead.
Haven’t read much on here in a while so not sure if anyone has hear similar?'"
I heard something pretty similar. I heard it was Wane's decision to leave due to a disagreement regarding money and recruitment with Lenaghan (not the Hardaker signature though).
Might be wrong, who knows, I'm getting second hand info from someone else. But this person up to now hadn't let me down with information regarding signings and departures.

Wane was told he no longer has free reign to sign players.
All the mess by resigning players like Sarg and Tomkins Marquee have pushed the envelope.
This is spin put out by Wanes crowd, simples.
Lenners will do the right thing for the club.
Sometimes I think you are Wane or at least related..

| Quote: NickyKiss "If that’s true I wonder if it’s because we won’t be doing much in the way of recruiting or more the fact that we were looking to recruit to then ship out Wanes trusted players like Sam and Joel Tomkins and previously Micky Mac.
The signings of Hardaker and Greenwood are a good start for us but we’ll need at least two more to try and get us in a solid position for 2019 IMO.'"
Yeah it could be interpreted either way. Hardaker is phenomenal on his day and capable of winning games from nothing. He does of course come with a risk.
Greenwood less so on both counts. Steady player, low risk. If we bring in a scrum half I’ll be happy going into next season, notwithstanding the coach appointment.

| I tend to agree. I don't think that any two from three of Williams, Powell, and Woods, will enough for next season. I'm assuming we've pretty much given up on Shorrocks. Or is he even still on our books?

I’d completely forgotten about Shorrocks to be honest. I wasn’t too sold on him either, I would be very disappointed if our HB partnership was GW + Woods/Shorrocks next season.

At the start of the season I wanted Shorrocks to be given a chance at 7 but he got injured again and ended up on loan at Salford where he failed to impress. He’s still a player of great potential but I fear he’s heading in the direction of Hampshire in that he isn’t going to fulfill it. Hope I’m wrong and I reckon he’s worth persevering with. I too would be disappointed if we didn’t recruit a new half back for next season.

Agreed. I’m happy to see players like Shorrocks and Woods being given a chance but his spell at Salford was poor. I just don’t see a way back into the fold for him, Woods is clearly in front with Powell in front of them both and potentially a new #7 inbound pushing him further down the pecking order.
Even at hooker he has Ganson, TL and Powell in front of him. Personally I think for his benefit he needs to move on and rebuild himself elsewhere. He may well turn out to be what Joe Mellor is to Widnes at a different club but I just don’t see him succeeding at Wigan unfortunately.
As always I, along with you and others I suspect, am quite happy to be proved wrong and if that be the case I’d be happier to write how wrong I was. I actually hope that this will be the case TBH as I don’t really like writing off young lads chances at the club.

Haha i wish was him or related. My bank account would be much better off!
Taken in context with the two signings we’ve made it seems like a daft rumour, but we stand to lose a few more players by next season so maybe Wane was told to replace those with youth, who knows?

2553.gif I've seen them bomb a quarter final, bottle a semi final, finish as league leaders, but I've still, never, seen the Wire win the league

Even if this was true IMHO it’s a p*ss poor reason to go. It’s hypocritical coming from SW given he was the one not long ago banging the drum for a team full of Wiganers which would have been almost certainly all drawn from the academy.
I just don’t see it being the genuine reason he’s gone at all.

It's not true, its just spin from Wane lovers.
There is money to be spent, Lenners just doesn't want Wane wasting on his cronies any more!!

Good, and I’m more inclined to believe what you’ve said.
