Quite the opposite - it's there to counterbalance the OTT hysteria generated by people like yourself who act like it's the be all and end all. A relatively easy cup run and a 2nd half injury collapse from Wire is hardly a vintage story for the ages. I'll love repeating that to my grand kids in years to come.

However, a number of electrons were mildly inconvenienced.

Wow.
Aren't you a happy chappy?
Personally, I couldn't give 2 es which teams we got drawn against in the cup run, as yu can only beat whatever is put in front of you and as for Wire's "injury collapse" - Please feel free to completely discard the fact that our half-back had his sinus fractured by Ben Westwood, but chose to stay on the field and win the Harry Sunderland trophy, rather than succumb to the pain and discomfort that he was in.
You can write it any way that fits you anti-Wane agenda, but the rest of us will just enjoy it for what it was - A fantastic come-back, under tremendous pressure, with a "broken" half-back, against a team that was widely tipped to be unbeatable at the time.

| Just to put some perspective into the agenda driven Wane debate:
Season 1 - Won hubcap but I think it's fair to say he made some mistakes re team selection at times that ultimately cost us.
Season 2 - Learned from mistakes of season 1 and rested players more - won the double.
Season 3 - Get to GF and if we could have played with 13 men for more than 2 minutes more than even chance of being champions IMHO.
In detail:
Season 1: SL: Beaten by Champions CC: Beaten by finalist
Season 2: SL: Champions CC: Winners
Season 3: SL: Beaten by Champions CC: Beaten by finalist
Season 4: SLicon_confused.gif CC: Beaten by finalist

I'd argue that over the last 6 seasons during the Maguire/Wane "era", we probably played the best rugby during 2012. The spell during the summer when we hammered Leeds at Headingley and put scores on Saints at Magic and Catalans in France was excellent to watch. The wheels came off a bit towards the end of the season and we were probably victims of our own tactics with the structure of the league, when a "win every game" mentality wasn't required, and ultimately two semi final defeats meant a very consistent season ended in disappointment. Wane learned from this in 2013, played the system much better and we won both trophies.
The poster who said Wane's 2013 Double season was Maguire's last achievement - that is one of the most ridiculous things I've read on this forum. Not only was it 2 seasons after Madge had left, it was a completely different squad. Two different half backs that had never played under Madge plus a new set of props.
The most disappointing aspect of Wane's tenure as head coach has been the manner of the CC exits in the last two seasons.

Very true.
Maybe I'm just too simplistic but I have always viewed it as you either win it or you don't.

And if you are indeed being simplistic, we DO win more than most... But people like to be selective to suit an argument. For a rookie coach, for at this level thats what Wane is, his record stacks up against most. If you attribute his success to Maguire's work, then you have to ascribe Maguire's success to work done by Noble..

| My concern is the style of rugby we play it can hardly be classed as entertaining and at the end of the day sport should be entertaining, we are at times painfully lacking in creativity and skill with very few game changing players.
My main concern is that off the platform of the double the team has not kicked on. I believe the standard of SL has dropped for a few years now and sadly so have we.
We identified the issues with the squad after the Roosters match and did nothing about it watching players who could really improve our squad sign for our rivals.
The signing strategy and gameplan for me are unacceptable and each year Wane seems incapable of evolving sticking to the same tactic over and over again which has become dated and predictable. It's all going a bit Brian Noble for me.

Maguire changed the culture of the club after we floundered with Noble.
Wane was handed the reigns to this winning machine with the idea that he'd keep it ticking over. As time has gone on he's introduced his own ideas.

| Literally the worst Warrington performance I've seen in 10 years. We should've put 60 on them.

Said the same when he went over. I'm not sure I've been as happy to see a player score a try in my time watching the game.
And to think I like many others thought we'd signed a bit of a joker when we got him. He embarrasses some of out other props at times (not as much tonight though as they all put a shift in for a change).
