| Quote: OJ "It's true that Josh hasn't scored as many tries as we are used to recently but that may just have something to do with the fact that he's not been passed the blasted ball. Sounds like he is being singled out for the loss to Saints and God knows why - totally out of order unless whoever wrote the article hasn't told the full story. One things for certain there wouldn't be any shortage of clubs happy to have him on their books if our management have a brain storm. Not happy'"
People read what they want to read with articles like that. There's no way Josh is suggesting he was "singled out" for the Saints game. He was probably one of many who was dragged into SWs office for similar chats, but JC isn't going to air that in a newspaper column is he. The fact is on his day Josh is a world class winger, but we haven't seen that sort of form consistently for over 2 years. He's being dropped because there is an adequate replacement in Manfredi who has done everything asked of him and more when he's played, to the point where he has earned his place. That isn't the case for other players in the squad (who would replace Sarg for example if he were to be dropped.
Injuries have played a part in Charnley's loss of form, but he looks heavy, sluggish and unfocused recently. His social media pages are covered in jollies down to London with some of his other enterprises and he's constantly putting pictures of fast food on, maybe this will be the kick up the backside he needs to get him to concentrate on his rugby.

| Charnely has been a shadow of the player we know he can be since Carney made him look a fool at Cas and then he got the injury. He is way behind Burgess and Manfredi in terms of form wingers this season and there's no way Manfredi deserves to have to wait for his chance against given his form and Charnley's.
Josh needs to remember he's a rugby league player and go and find his mojo rather than the self-indulgent "crossroads" excrement in the press.

| Quote: Rogues Gallery "What makes you think that Charnley was the only one called into Wanes office this week, or in the past few weeks?'"
Why does that matter one way or the other? It's clear he has been and equally clear he's the only player dropped after the Saints loss.
It's all right dragging players into Wane's office if the treatment is the same for them all. Was Sarge who was worse than him in terms of crucial mistakes dragged in? No idea but he's still playing this week.
If players think they are unjustifiably being singled out it only needs to happen to a few and Wane will lose the dressing room.
Actually I think the whole idea of being called to his office is pretty childish when clearly the players know what it's for. It's like being dragged before the headmaster for the cane!
That M.E.N article is a rare glimpse behind the scenes at Wigan and I don't think it paints a healthy picture.

Might have known you'd be allover this. No way on this Earth would JC put in the paper, me and X and Y and Z were called in because of our bad performances. The whole article, which I agree with WLA it is self-indulgent, is about him questioning his own performances of late, and rightly so. I can guarantee at least a handful of players will have had similar conversations.
You can't completely overhaul the team because of one bad performance, but in the case of JC when Manfredi is in reserve and was in such good form prior to his injury, he's got to drop out. Sarg is one player who is lucky in this respect, we've got 2 centres on the treatment table and we're already playing a forward as a centre at the minute. The only way he could drop out is if we take a chance on Gildart or start moving people out of position.
As far as the team for Friday goes, Manfredi in for Josh and Hampshire in for Bowen would be the only changes I'd make.

Might have known you 'd say "Might have known you'd be allover this. ".
Whatever.
I would not expect him to name names. I could however expect him to say "several players were called in, me included" or "I wasn't the only one but...".
He didn't so concluding he was the one up before the beak isn't so far fetched is it?
But it doesn't matter if he was one of several or not. He took the slagging off v Leeds and Hall on the chin but I think you'd have to be a bit naive to think he thinks he was justifiably on the receiving end here.
I also think he has got the blame for Sarge's error and the fact we can't drop Sarge doesn't mean we drop Josh just because we can.

| Quote: sergeant pepper "Same could be said for Hampshire but it was decided he was going to play FB.'"
that is exactly my point.
Why do people think that Manfredi, Burgess or Charnley would be a good move to FB? Personally I haven't got a clue who to put there.
The way we play centres and full ball are critical yet we don't have real quality at either position. I said at the beginning of the season that lack of quality centres could be our Achilles heel and none of our current options have changed my mind.
I'd be inclined to retain Bowen at FB and put Williams at 7 with Hampshire at 6 with Smith on the bench. It won't happen but one can hope.
What I would like but I know won't happen is that our props drive the ball in more in particular Mossop & Crosby ( I'm excluding the Huddersfield lad because he is a total waste of a shirt in that he never makes a break and his tackling is always suspect) who have both been very disappointing and who for me do not do enough minutes or enough of the grunt work. For a rough tough team I'm tired of ten forwards in a squad of seventeen not doing as much work as Sarginson for gods sake.
I can accept and indeed expect defeats but the number of twenty minute players is beginning to grind.
Rant over.

You have been saying this for ages, yet there is nothing to indicate this is the case.
Quite the opposite seems to be true, what with Sam, Joel, Mossop and Thornley all returning recently.
To be honest i can think of ZERO articles (that i have read) that indicate anything but masses of respect for the Head Coach.
As for players having private debriefs by SW. What is wrong with that???
When i have performance related discussions with my staff, i generally refrain from doing it in front of the entire team. In this case JC even states that the last session he had with SW, helped him and was just what he needed!!
Why do you have to create this negative vibe about EVERYTHING?
I have got to a stage now when i do not have to bother reading your posts (which i used to enjoy) as i know it will just be completely negative. Whats the point?

I think you are putting real gloss on this. You think Charnley is "staff" who gets taken aside for an appraisal or a quiet word? You honestly think Wane works like that and takes note of the HR dept?

| I dont think wane would ever lose the dressing room due to the fact that hes had these players from when they were kids which makes the dressing room a very tight knit band of players

So do you honestly and sincerely believe that coaches do not (or should not) have private one-to-ones with players?
Give an honest and straightforward answer.

| Could it just have been a "Josh Dom's fit again and he will be in the team on Friday i don't play Wingers of the bench so your not in the squad " kind of meeting giving a player the heads up before going public . We will never know . But hey-ho dont let that stop all the conspiracy theories they are more fun .

| In his column it says he was called in for a 'chat'. he is hardly likely to say who else would have been called in. I find it very hard to believe that he would be the only one hauled into the bosses office

| Wane has had it in for Josh ever since Josh invited his agent over to Aus before we played the Roosters. Then the issue quickly developed. It was Josh who was dropped and blamed after that game when anyone who was watching the game could see what was happening; Goulding as flying off his line to quickly get on top of Jennings, knowing Jennings has unbelievable quick feet and speed if he gave him time he's skin Daz. However when Daz shot out of the line Jennings easily dealt with the situation often leaving Josh in no man's land.
Since this season Josh has been injured, and struggled with Joel as a centre, it's not surprising he's now dropped and will possibly end up elsewhere, which is a terrible shame, he needs to brought back into form at Wigan otherwise next year we'll have Manfredi on one wing and no recognised Wigan on the other.
