| Quote: tank123 "Thornley full fit is a better defender than Sarginson so that's a 50/50 call for me.
Manfredi if fit would play instead of Charnley. Josh this season has been a bit under par compared to previous years and Manfredi was our best winger this season until Burgess's form improved. Real good situation to be tbh 3 good wingers. If Josh is performing to his standard of the last 2-3 years then he would be in the team but on this season Manfredi is our most improved player.
Thornley i do think he will not play for us again we will cut our loses his injuries list it too long the last 2 years.'"
Wane's love child. Will play again even if he has to do it on crutches.

| Quote: Itchy Arsenal "I personally have no problem at al in acknowledging that saints a have five or six first teamers missing and that we have two arguably three missing.
Don't see what all the fuss is about. Saints are at home so that should count for something and we are either moderately hot or freezing in terms of form/consistency therefore, as per virtually all saints and Wigan matches either team can win.
Again I do accept that saints have key players out in fact it would be ludicrous to argue otherwise. Does that mean they will be any less motivated or a very difficult team to beat? Absolutely not.
If saints lose then I'm sure if they perform well and compete the majority of their fans will be happy. If Wigan lose I just hope we at least compete and put up a good show in terms of effort and expansive play.
Let the best team win and hopefully the officials let the game flow.'"
Exactly. Though I would point out to Saints fans that it's not really on to claim Lomax as a true loss when you've signed someone to replace him. Similarly, we can't claim that the loss of Manfredi and Thornley is too much of a blow, can we? Gelling being out in the backs and Clubb in the pack are our real losses IMO.

| Arguing who's got missing players is loser talk, almost getting excuses in before the game even starts!
Focus on who's playing and winning. Wigan are finding some form, hopefully we'll a statement and rip Saints apart, even more incentive with Leeds losing last night.

Excellent news!
And good luck to a lad who IMO is getting criticised by some Harshly IMO for being Injury Prone.
Who in fact played approxiamtely 40 games maybe only missing 1 in the the 18 months since he came back to the club.
Who has suffered 2 pretty bad injuries over the nect 12 months but yet we forget his only 23 years of age!
I'm a big Gelling fan but in 2013 when there was a rumbling for Gelling to play at Wembley & GF I stuck by Thornely (Backed him 1st try at Wembley £20 at 14-1 as I was getting peed off with criticism he was getting).
Now he is going to have to do what Gelling did, work hard, bide his time and when he gets his chance hang on to it.
I want ALL players fit and fighting for places and this along with Lockers return, hopefully Gelling and Club in next week or so will provide headaches that most clubs could only wish for!

| Looking forward to this one. Should be a good'un.
I'm a bit more confident than some other saints fans but that's only because our forwards (especially the front line) are in great form and are making good meters. I think if we can restrict your yardage out wide (that's were the majority of your meters are made up) then I'll be confident that we will win.
The only doubt is our creative issues. Walsh missing is a big blow and we have looked a bit slow and sluggish shifting the ball in opponents 20m. Missing our first choice second rowers has also affected our attacking shape. That's why some of us are making something of our injuries. We become a bit one dimensional without Vea and Greenwood imo

| Injuries are part and parcel of RL that's why clubs have 25+ in their squads. The real question should be, could any of those injuries have been avoided/timescales shortened with better management or techniques. I suspect that if this was a GF then a few more players would be available. This is Wigan v Saints and 99% of the time we get an excellent contest no matter which personnel turn out. I expect tonight's game to be no different.

| I think if it's a straight up forward battle I think saints have the edge just with sheer size, but if it's an expansive game I think we have the edge IMO our backs are the better set, should be a close game which could go either way

| Especially with Makinson out.
Anyway, safely arrived at Wigan hotel, a marked contrast to the last Saints game when I arrived bloody and battered...
So looking forward to this!
