I am not surprised we lost with the side that Wane picked. It was a reserve side with both Lockers and a few others rested and with Micky Mac out injured you could have predicted this result. Reminds of Widnes away a couple of seasons ago.

I am sure he rested players ready for Saints but if he did this will only prove to be the right choice if we win.

I get that beating Sts is massive for Wigan but if he rested players to gain more chance of 2points against Sts then he negated that by dropping 2points today.

Which we will.

Wane rolled the dice & only just came up short, still a great effort from a nigh on 2nd team.

He did and even though it was a short turnaround from Widnes mid-week that was an easy win so I am not sure why there were so many unforced changes. As you say dropping two points today has negated a win on Friday. If we lose the strategy will arguably have cost four points

There was only really Burgess, Bateman and Lockers out of our first choice 13 (with McIlorum injured), there was still enough in that squad to beat Wakefield. It was nothing like the wholesale changes he made against Widnes in 2012 and it was a completely understandable line up given it was our 3rd game in 9 days. Errors and soft defence cost us the game today, not the team selection.

On a side note, I'd seriously consider recalling Logan from Salford if it's possible. Williams has been making lots of errors and some of his distribution has been poor. I'd rather have Logan starting with Williams providing a running option off the bench.

Couldn't agree more re Logan. With both MM and Green out we need him back.

We were out enthused in all departments and made some very basic errors that for me was the frustration today.

Even when we took the lead by 2 scores we didn't deserve to be up.

Came up with some poor plays and if we have to rely on Williams at hooker for 8 weeks we are really going to struggle.

I saw Dudson warm up but can't remember any cintribution of his to the game. James was woeful, and Faz got shown up today by Kirmond who dominated him. He did look very tired though.

Gelling went well again and Murphy looked ok Flower and Taylor put in reasonable shifts, rest looked poor and not interested when it got tough which was very disappointing.

Dudson didn't play to be fair
