| Quote: Eastbourne Warrior "I don't understand this attitude. The rumour on the Hull board is centred on the suggestion his wife/girlfriend wants to go home to friends and family. From someone who has done it I can say that moving away from friends and family is a massive change in someone's personal life. Some people can cope others can't. If, as suggested it is a family decision I fully understand and respect that. From a career point of view it's not a good move but some things are simply more important.'"
I would be amazed if there's anyone on this board who hasn't moved away from home at some point, many of us to work at jobs that bring in far, far less than Taylor is earning at Wigan.
In any case he's 23, not 16. And Hull is an hour and a half away down the motorway.
He's on the verge of regular international honours, getting noticed by the NRL, etc. For his sake, I hope he thinks very long and very hard about this.

Actually I think it's pretty pathetic. Firstly unlike yourself he isn't living at the other end of the country and secondly he can get home regularly as it's only an hour or so away. Plus - He's hardly working nine to five is he?
He needs to get his priorities in order. Professional sportsmen have a short career and moving to Hull FC will be the end of his!
I'm willing to bet anyone that he moves away from Hull FC after a couple of years anyway.
Actually if he is so lacking in ambition, despite his undoubted ability, perhaps he isn't the right man for Wigan after all.

| The two reasons being mentioned are homesickness and money and they both don't wash with me because-
Homesickness- he's 90 mins away from home but if that's not close enough move halfway or further and do the travelling. It surely worth that to continue your development at a top club and win things.
Money- if it's money then it's crazy. He's a young lad who will have plenty of opportunities to move to a club throwing money around when he's achieved everything he wants to in the game.

| I don't know if any of this is true, it's speculation on the hull board. Should stress it's his wife/gf not him. 90 mins or the other end of the country doesn't matter. Everything you are accustomed to changes. You can't pop out with your mates or nip to mums on a whim for Sunday lunch. You don't walk down the street and see people you grew up with any more.
All I'm saying is that if I was in a position where my wife said I hate it here and I want to go home, I'd go. Some things are more important than money and careers.

Warrington led 16-2 in Saturday's Grand Final, but their joy was short-lived as Wigan roared back to win the Super League title and extend the Wire's 58-year wait to be champions:d7dc4b20b2c2dd7b76ac6eac29d5604e_10174.png |

| If he moves from Wigan to Hull at this stage of his career you'd have to question his sanity. A club lifting silverware every year to a club going nowhere. You can guarantee his game would suffer too. Would gutted if he did leave, he's going to be an awesome prop (if he stays at Wigan ).

This reminded me of Billy Kenny who played for Everton in the 90s and effectively ended his career at age 21 because he preferred to go to the pub with his mates and loved his mums Sunday lunch. He had played for England u 21s and was extremely promising.
The life changes that you refer to are called - Growing up!
He will have a long time in retirement about 50 years or so to go to the pub with his mates. Always assuming that they haven't all moved away to find work of course!

No disrespect, but I really hope he's not receiving this kind of advice.
Has the guy any clue what kind of number he's on? He's doing the thing he loves and getting paid very well for it, and he's at one of the best clubs in the world, not just in the UK.
And you're telling us that going to the pub with his mates and popping around to see his mum (which he could do anyway), are more important.
Surely you don't mean that?
I've known people move abroad to find jobs, and though they weren't keen, they made it work for the good of themselves and their families. And in many of those cases, it was for life, not just the duration of a short career in RL.

I think there is a huge difference between it being practical to drive home and being at the other end of the country.
I have done both living in London for 12 years before moving up to Chester.
London obviously the other end of the country and yes popping home on a whim out of the question but Chester was about a 45 min drive from my parents when they were alive living in Wigan.
I agree with Cruncher and the others of a similar view. If what you say is behind it, then it is pathetic. He doesn't have to be 90 mins away from home if he moves half way 45 min commute for a player is hardly the same as you or me having to do it to get to work for 9am.
As I said 45 min drive is about as far away as I was from my parents living in Chester with them in Wigan and this was no barrier to seeing them as often as we liked.
An RL players career at the top is a short one and if the wife can't put up with just seeing the parents/friends at the weekends for the duration you have to wonder. If it's that important he could no doubt afford for her not to work and she could pop over on a weekday as well if that desperate. If she can't cope with that, trade her in for a new model!

| if he does go back to Hull it looks like he is prepared to sacrifice a career at the top with possible international call ups just to be closer to home........Unbelieable if true

| I think Taylor should consult with Joe Westerman about any proposed move to Hull. He went from having bags of potential and representing his country to obscurity.
I wasn't convinced about Taylor before he signed but he has performed well and has clearly development into a stronger player for his move. In his short time at Wigan he has won silverware and travelled to NZ and Australia so and if he wants to leave for reasons rumoured, then Im afraid he shows a complete lack of professionalism and desire to develop his career and should leave.

| We don't know the circumstances do we?
Is his wife/partner pregnant? If so that would have a big influence on their decision.
Do they have parents who are not in good health?
It's not always as straightforward as it looks.

| He is 23 with a long career in front of him - potentially. Look at Hock & Hansen at Salford, shadows of their former selves same as Joe Westerman.
Irrespective of the reasons - leaving wigan will have a detrimental effect on his long term career but that's his choice.

True. There are always factors we don't know about, and which are none of our business.
But it still looks like a ludicrous decision, if indeed he takes it.

To be fair there is a very good chippy in Hull.
