You do realise, don't you, that in financial terms British RL is a failing sport?
Good luck to any rich fella who thought he'd come along and pillage it. He'd be lucky to pocket the annual running costs for his motor.

| Apart from his attacking brilliance Wigan have lost one of the few real leaders in the team and it is this quality that needs to be replaced as much as anything. I doubt we'll see him in the cherry and white again but I would love to see him return at the end of his career in the number 6 jersey and run the side. Moving to full back was successful in terms of trophies but I always regretted him leaving the stand off position.

| Good luck to him he has been a great player for us and he's been an honour to watch him week in week out, some of the things he can do are freak like and the NRL will love him. Sadly I don't think we will see him in a Wigan shirt again, I think he will end up in union after a stint on the NRL.

| Ultimately I can't blame him for wanting to go and test himself in the NRL but I do feel we should have held him to the third year if that deal he signed.
It's not to be though and we move on. I just hope the emotion of it all doesn't hinder him and the team this Friday (and hopefully the week after).

is it really that hard to understand that running a club cost money and the directors don't just pocket any transfer money we get? if Ian was in it for the money do you think we would have refurbished the Orrell training facilities, bought the wigan academy facilities or extended a partnership to south wales which costs the club money.
SAM TOMKINS DECIDED HE WANTED TO LEAVE WIGAN WHAT DO YOU EXPECT THE CLUB TO DO?!?!?

Are you seriously - seriously - accusing the club chairman of stealing £450,000 from the Wigan club?
If so, where is your evidence (because you'll likely need to present it in court).
I'd think long, hard and carefully before answering these questions.

| 450k Tomkins
250k Charnock AKA Hock
100k Mossop
£800k for cheaper season tickets for the fans.
In seriousness if these players had decided NOT to go IL would be 800k less of what he's got now. Unless that's part of his buisness plan???

Im not sure what your trying to say here because you give one reason for selling Tomkins then you give another at the end.
Are you trying to say we needed to sell Tomkins to carry on running the club? Or are you saying we had to sell him because he wanted to leave?
If its the first then I don't believe it and if that is the case and we needed the money then we are in deep trouble because theres only so many players we can sell before we have no players left to sell. If you believe that is the reason we have sold Tomkins then I think you are deluded. All those off the field things you mention just increases the clubs value when Lenegan comes to sell us off in the future.
If you believe the second is true then you may be right. What can we do? Well we can hold him to the contract he signed 2 years ago for a start. You know the one Lenegan himself was bragging about? Contracted for 5 but deffo here for 3 years? The only reason we would decide to sell the best player in Super League early is due to being able to get a transfer fee. Money orientated sale.
Funny you mention South Wales. Can you tell me what good comes out of this South Wales deal because i cant see any.

Where have i accused anybody of stealing money?
You really do come across as a very obnoxious person Cruncher.
I notice you quoted me but edited out my question ;where is that money going to go?
Any ideas?

This has got to be a wind-up.
You quite clearly said that the chairman was going to use the £450,000 (!) the club received for Sam "to make himself richer".
I'll tell you what, bud ... you're going to need a better defence than "You're obnoxious".

| As has been posted over and over again, the question remains
"Where has the transfer money gone to?"
Because, on the face of it, it hasn't gone to replace players.
Now I'm sure you can say the usual, "on infrastructure, on investment, on back office et etc"
But the implication is that without these departures, and the associated transfer fees there would have been none of this.
In terms of where the money goes, then presumably it's onto the balance sheet of Wigan RL (at least in the first instance).
If the chairman then takes money out of the club, or doesn't put money into the club that he otherwise would have had to, then it is indeed going "into his pocket".
Whether or not this is acceptable depends on your point of view.

SAM TOMKINS WANTED TO LEAVE WIGAN!!!!!!!! nothing ian could do other than get the best possible deal we could what he has done and all ways has! That money wont be pocketed by him like you alluded to before but to improve the club and that costs money and if selling players who want to move helps us improve the CLUB then so be it.
some people have got the head so far in the sand they need to realize superleague clubs have no pull or attraction for the time being.

| Ridiculously bad timing, just before our biggest game of the season. WTF are the club thinking?
Just 5 survivors from our GF winning team now - Lockers, Hansen, McIlorum, Goulding and Farrell.

fairly sure we have made more loses than profit so your question is invalid. Ian has invested heavily in wigan and hasn't steered us wrong yet.
As if a share of 800k gets ian all excited the man has more than 20 million quid.
