| If full-time professional SL players require the excuse that "it was raining heavily" in order to justify all that dross served up along with the conspicuous lack of basic skill sets on both sides, the game may as well return to a part-time professional status as a matter of urgency.

| As a Wigan fan I didn't think it was a great spectacle.
Now I have to say I am a grumpy old man but Hull were poor and Wigan were good in defence but their attack was mediocre.
Wigan fans were very quiet in the first half too. Not sure why. My wife reckoned the rain had dampened everyone's spirits but I don't think it was that.
I thought it was a bit of a strange game really. Easy but never certain until Sam scored at the end.
Our kicking game was very good though!

| not the best, but certainly not the worst.
Conditions awful, but "Hull nil" sums it up.......we tackles them out of it, and our tactics were spot on

| Oh dear those Wigan fans having a go at the neutrals - and yes this "giants fan" have clearly missed the point. Yes you won, well done and from your point of view you won't care how it was done. But neutrals DO care, the fact we do isn't something to sneer at. The fact that so many neutrals are saying it was a poor game isn't because we want to be nasty to poor old Wigan, doing so isnt that important to most of us- (saints fans excepted ) we are saying it because we think its true- regardless of the chip some seem to have on your shoulder!
in World Cup year we really needed a humdinger of a game in what is our jewel in the remaining rugby league still shown on terrestrial tv. Especially as numbers on terraces have gone down significantly. Wigan Leeds or Wigan Warrington fr earlier in the season would be what we needed.
Yes personally I'd rather have a one sided score line if there was at least some attacking skill and flair shown on the pitch. Lets face it if the majority of games were defensive borefests like the final the greatest game will die a death.
If the grand final serves up the same dross sooner rather than later.

| Quote: Euclid "A lot of the miseries on the virtual terrace are moaning about today's game and saying it was the worst final ever. I disagree. Certainly Hulls ball handling was poor; not only were passes dropped, but many passes were at or above head height. Hulls completion rate was very poor. The ref didn't help by allowing such slow play the ball. But on the other hand each defence was effective, Hull kept Tomkins well policed, and Wigans defence never looked like conceding. I thought Wigan won most of the collisions. And for once I thought Wigan had a good kicking game, and a decent chase, which kept Hull pinned in their own half for long periods. Quite frankly I was on the edge of my seat until the last score. I thoroughly enjoyed it, and I think the negative comments came from people unable to appreciate a really tight game. Realy pleased for Mr Wane and very glad I went to the game.'"
WTF do they expect? If we had chucked it about as we normally do in the dry, we'd have lost!
I don't care which two teams you would have had out there today the one with the least errors was probably going to be the winner not the one trying to play pretty RL.
They should read the comments of Hull's coach. He reckons they panicked a bit and I agree. We have players more experienced at finals and ours didn't panic and were more composed. Just what you want when its chucking it down.

| Sorry, Jools, so what do you want us to do about it? How do you know any other teams would have produced a better spectacle. Were you there? Did you actually see the conditions those guys were playing in? I guarantee it was 10x worse than what the TV cameras showed. Unfortunately the conditions just didn't encourage fast, mistake-free flowing rugby. It wasn't the greatest final in living memory but defences were good, Charnley's try-saver was great and Tomkins try at the end showed a touch of class.
Oh, and there's nothing wrong with the occasional game where defences dominate - if we want to beat the Aussies we're going to have to defend...

| If hull hadve won in exactly the same circumstances every 'neutral' fan would be on here saying how it was a fantastic game.

We are- but you can bet we need to score some without being gifted posession too!
I'm not saying you should do anything about it except some should accept the critisism it was a poor game to watch for the neutral without getting uppity!

| It just seems some so called 'neutrals' think that had other teams been in the final, they could have produced a better spectacle. I think we all know it wasn't the greatest advert for the game, but sometimes 5h1t happens...

| First of all congrats on winning today and on the subject of worst final i would say the weather had a lot to do with the way the game went it was never going to be a classic in those conditions I thought you handled the conditions a lot better then we did, with dryer conditions we might of seen a few more points from both sides.
Like people have already said who cares what the game was like as long as you win, today was all about hull fc and Wigan and from my point of view I couldn't give a toss about what the rest of the rugby league world thought of the game.

| Well said mate. If Charnley hadn't knocked that ball out, I think Hull might have gone on to win...

| The fact the game wasn't the best was Wigan's fault. And if people don't come out and support the RLWC, that will also Wigan's fault.
Wigan should also be held responsible for shooting JFK and the start of WW2.
