Sorry to say you don’t have a right to a day off on a bank holiday; your employer can ask/make you work. That’s what I was told. If you work full time you must have a set number of days holiday, I think it’s around 28, but your employer doesn’t have to give you the days off you ask for. Anyway that’s what the Gestapo told me!

I think you are getting mixed up in the right to leave, and the right to 'paid leave'. There is a difference.

I was responding to claims that bank holidays were a statutory right to holidays (either paid or unpaid). The official government and therefore legal line is that there is no statutory right to paid or unpaid leave and that it is all down to your terms of employment, as defined by your personal contract. This is clearly on an individual basis - there is no "statutory" (i.e defined by statute, or "legally"icon_wink.gif right either way.

There's not even a "right to leave" defined legally as a general issue - it's all down to your personal contract of employment.

After today it seems like they are mentally "exhausted" or just not switched on for the full 80, really disappointed at the current standard of play considering it's at the business end of the season and going back a few months we was the hottest team in the competition for a long period of time.
