If it was deliberate it was a good shot! obviously it wasn't but I can see why so many Saints fans are annoyed but some of the abuse is pathetic.

I think it needs to be stopped though I was at a game a few years ago and a ball hit an old woman in the face. Plenty more ways to celebrate and rub it in than that.

DONT JUST FOLLOW THE TEAM SUPPORT THEM:

In my opinion you have a chance of being hit by the ball at all games.. From kicks etc . If it hit my daughter I would be upset if it hurt her but I wouldn't want the player taking out and shot.. Or even banned.

In recent years after a Saints v Wigan game I've been able to have a chat with some Saints fans about the game without being verbally abused, but not yesterday. Me and my mate were talking amongst ourselves saying "Our defence won us that game" When two braindead saints fans start coming up to us and screaming "Bentham won you that game you scum" Luckily they were braindead so we soon quietened them down and won the argument but it seems to me that recently they are just so bitter and twisted.

not complaining though, it is absolutely hilarious at times.

I can understand people getting annoyed at Hock for throwing the ball after it hit a kid but to make away fans feel threatened outside the ground is just out of order it's only a game afterall. One good thing is the bridge and routes to car parks are heavily monitored by cctv so hopefully the idiots will get dealth with.'"

There were several Saints fans (women I might add) showing two fingered gentures at us as we went past the South stand after the game. Quite unnecessary. Other than that I didn't feel threatened as much as i did after the play-off game at the DW last year when a grown woman threatened my son and physically pushed him around. I hope these are just isolated incidents and not a sign of the times. It would be sad to let the intense rivalry spill off the pitch. Its just a game after all.

Was going to post something similar, what suprised me yesterday is that it was not the usual drunk teenagers here but women and even elderly people hurling abuse at wigan supporters - ive never seen that before!

Having said that i met a number of good Saints supporters who told us how they felt ashamed at some of the behaviour of their fellow 'fans'.

There's nothing more disappointing for ordinary people than when Bibilical Easter prophecies don't come true. The full beatification of Saint Kieron can only happen when he masterminds a Good Friday annihilation of Wigan. Now they have to wait at least another year.

After the CC semi final last year I was walking away from the HJ on the phone to my mate telling him how much we deserved the game and a Saints fan ( A grown woman) Just started shouting and punched me round the back of the head. I have never laughed so much in my entire life.

the behaviour of SOME saints fans yesterday was a disgrace... coming out of the away end with my 12yr old nephew to be greeted by a group of saints fans singing songs about terry newton was shocking.

To put a balanced perspective on things the two Saints fans on the train back to Wigan in our carriage took the banter well considering the carriage comprised mainly Wigan supportes and gave as good as they got in a friendly way. That is as it should be. It was actually quite funny when the Wiganers realised that one of the guys looked like Brett Finch and the other like Bentham. They both took the chanting in good spirit. No animosity, just good old fashioned friendly RL banter. It restored my faith in the majority of RL supporters.

There are idiots from all clubs including Wigan. I witnessed a few taunting Saints supporters outside the ground. Quite unnecessary. Surely the victory itself is enough.

What really shocked me though were the old women outside Tesco giving us the 2 finger salute as we went by. No wonder their kids behave as they do.

The bit that would be like whenever a missile got lost over Bagdhad it had always somehow managed to hit a nursery school or a children's hospital. The bit that looks good on the propaganda notices.

I'm surprised the ball didn't bounce off the kid, hit a nice old lady in her one good eye, and then smack an innocent guy in the groin the day after he'd a had a vasectomy.

Prehaps people were unlucky yesterday if they copped some abuse...I left just after the full time hooter to walk back to the train station clearly showing my Wigan shirt and nobody said a word to me.

I can't be bothered finding a link to it as I am on my phone at the moment but if you check the Saints official twitter they are asking for the person it hit to contact the club. The stadium is covered with cctv in all stands so I don't think Saints would lie knowing they are there. It's not been made up by bitter fans.
