As long as neither Prescott or Mossop miss out when fully fit then this should be a useful signing. I've changed my mind on this having realised Madge has no interest in giving Crosby a chance this year. Maybe there are too many overseas players but I don't think Roberts will play again this year so that probably makes it less of an issue.

Excellent extra fire power for business end of the season ,

very true. I expect madge to get the very best out of him. As a coach that's what he gets out of players which is in total contrast to brain mac who is a genuine bloke just not a number 1.

As others have already stated he provides excellent cover at time when we really need it. Plus it should mean the end of us only fielding three props in matches, hopefully.

For me he'd play against Wakey and then we could rest Lima, who played in the Quins game with an injury I believe.

That just baffles me. Anybody who has played at the highest level like he has can do a job in any super league side even if it is just off the bench or rotation.

I must say I am very excited about this signing now, when Leeds first signed him I thought he would be better than Lima and was pretty jealous. Clearly the coaching at Leeds and the attitude of their staff has not helped him. We have a class player on our hands, I hope our coaching staff can get him firing on all cylinders!

The only thing that worries me is that he has not had the pre-season training the other players had. He will not be as fit as the rest of the team. He will not understand all the structures we use and it will take time.
Some would say the same about Lima, Hoffman, Finch and Hock.... but the 3 Melbourne player played the same stuff back home so would find it easier to settle in and Hock already knew more than half the squad which surely makes a difference. Cross is a proper newcomer so I hope the players make him feel like he is part of this champion side.

Was a favourite player of mine in his NRL days..and when leeds signed him i was pretty gutted

Never got anywhere near the level he can at leeds..very happy we can call on a player like Cross as cover.

Not a bad signing, I was always abit concerned about the size of our pack... no disrespect to Mossop or Prescott, both are fantastic at what they do. However, our pack does seem incredibly small... just lack abit of aggression really. Not helped with Fielden being out, shame really as he was possibly our best forward towards the end of last season.

You have obviously never stood next to some of our pack.

Mossop, Prescott and Coley are serisouly huge guys. They don't have fat on them like other big props.

He has signed for Widnes for next season on 1 year deal.

bottom line for me is good signing and if he isn't good enough he wont play, which puts to bed the idea 'he's a poor player' and 'he wont make any impact'. no loss either way
