| Alibert might not have been great, but in his defence he was equally not great for both sides. Leeds certainly didn't gain any sort of advantage from Thierry's shortcomings, nor did the pies. It was a rather dry game and Wigan managed to scrape a win, but I suspect that Leeds have won the psychological battle.

How many points do you get for winning the psychological battle?

| The sky commentry were simply their usual drivel. Player does something quite good then they turn him into a superstar, back to his best etc. I find most of them pathetic and only really take notice of whichever coach is on the panel. Shaun McRae , i find informative and reasoned. With the no try at the end, i thought he knocked on but wasn't sure whether it was my bias or not untill McRae said it was a knock on. My conclusion is to sack all the regular sky team and appoint a decent professional commentator with McCrea in the 'Stevo' role.
As for the game i thought it was a good contest which could have been a whole lot better but for inept refereeing. Alibert got a large number of obvious and important calls wrong. Sam should have seen yellow, Richards taken out in the air, a whole string of forward passes, i'm not convinced Webb knows how to pass backwards, fotunately for us the one for Pat's try to name but a few. The thing that annoyed me most was the messing about at the play the ball he allowed (from both teams). It was ok in the first half but as the second went on and the players relalised that the were getting away with it it just got worse and worse.
Overall, Leeds played the best game i've seen them play this year, we were not great however still managed to come up with a win. That's a big positive to take from the game.

What a pathetic thread when you have the likes of clarke and o'connor as signed up members of the wigan fan club drivelling on all the rime about wigan - EVEN WHENYOU ARE ON NOT SKY

There's two Saints fans coming on here and complaining about forward passes ?
That's a bit rich from them, when they get their 'obligatory forward pass try' every game.

Well there is no actual psychological points system to refer to because "psychology" does not benefit from having its own objective scoring system, so one cannot hope to claim any real advantage based on psychology alone. There is simple no tangible accreditation on any form of league table (due mainly to the intransient nature of psychological point scoring). However, it must feel pretty good deep down inside to have the psychological advantage.

| Well a leeds side over revving in 6th with halibut giving everything to them in the first 20 (after that he was equally bad for both) couldn't beat Wigan side that just about shifted to 2nd for 10 minutes in the second half.

You dont get a psychological advantage over somebody unless you beat them
Leeds best two games this season have been against us but they havent won any of them, if thats an advantage maybe we should start trying to lose instead?

Tell me an instant where it isnt. You dont get anything for nearly beating somebody in any sport ive ever watched.

This defence of a ref who clearly isn't up to the job has run its course for me. It's the excuse made for Alibert in most of the games he refs. He is just not good enough and it spoils the spectacle.
I think he either panics when faced with seasoned pros on both sides from top teams and loses control or he just can't keep up with game. It's probably both come to think of it. He missed an absolutely blatant knock on right in the middle of the field tonight form a player on his own i.e. it wasn't a difficult one to spot.
As to forward passes Leeds are better suited to American football at times and have been for several seasons.

Saints were past masters at snatching victories from the jaws of defeat. I am sure that gave them the self belief not to throw the towel in.
What did the sides they beat in these circumstances gain from those games? Not a lot I'd guess.

You are Brian Noble, and I claim my £5. That's the sort of cack-handed philosophical nonsense he used to trot out to justify every near-miss we had.
We've been pretty poor against Leeds twice this season, and not been beaten in either game - yet Leeds have the advantage? OK....
