| One of the biggest issues i've found is finding the words for all the songs. Most of them i've picked up (and i gotta say, that's always easier at away games). The Dale Cavese is simple, anyone can join in with it. Classic example is with 'Just Can't Get Enough', the majority don't know the verse so just join in at the chorus... you can hear it build...
all the things you do to me and all the things you said... i just can get enough, i just can't get enough... We slip and slide and we're falling in love and i JUST CANT SEEM TO GET ENOUGH OF, DU DU DU...
the more complex the song, the harder it is to join in. And like Jimmy says, it's the celebration that matters. To add my own onto there, nothing sounds more vulnerable than a silent crowd as it brings the "you only sing when you're winning" and "you're not singing" in retaliation. Any sound is better than no sound, and if Dale Cavese is the way to get sound, then so be it!
Perhaps a thread on here, and on the other forum with mirrored posts would help those who dont know the songs to learn em, and join in! Perhaps we could team up with wiganwarriors.com GNO section for a "lyrics" page.

Edited. Really annoys me that people don't sing this bit properly.

| Over the last two or three seasons an ultras group has been formed at Blackburn. Fed up with sitting near to folk who don't stand or sing, they have migrated from the Blackburn End to the Darwen End. There are 2k season ticket holders in the Darwen End and there's now a waiting list for season tickets in that section. Of the 2k in there, there are perhaps three or four hundred who stand and sing with Dale Cavese being a feature song. The problem is, it doesn't spread to other areas of the ground.
This is the problem with all seater stadia and the topics I hear on the Wigan forums are replicated on the Rovers ones. Before Ewood Park was redeveloped, the home 'singers' congregated on the Blackburn End, a standing terrace behind the goals. All like minded fans who wanted to chant and have a good time whilst following their team. As like fans from virtually every other team up and down the country, you stood at the back and fairly central. Easy to get songs going because everyone was together.
In all seater stadia you take a chance who you sit next to. At Ewood, I've a mate to my right but to my left are a group of over 60's who never sing. Nothing wrong with that, but that's the way it is today, pockets of fans here and there who want days of old and pockets of fans who don't. I've followed Rovers away to places like Newcastle and Man United and both these grounds have been like morgues. But, when these same sets of fans come to Ewood, all together and popped up on booze, they have their end of the ground rocking.
Unfortunately, from a fans perspective, most home games are 'average' at best. Saints at Easter was obviously bouncing and Warrington would have been had we won I can't see many more home games that will fall into the 'bouncing' category. Away days are something else though and that's why Widnes on Friday was so good.

| I like the idea of a singing section at home, although where it should be I'm not sure, the top of the South is pretty high up and the noise doesn't carry that well to where I sit near halfway in the East. Thinking of getting a season ticket in the South next year for a little more atmosphere at home games.

I see what you're saying as I sit in a similar position (Row DD ES6) and we've got some right old farts by us, but I'd be reluctant to give it up as the view is cracking. I fear this may be the view shared by many. (Now if you could get a singing section at the top of the East I'd be game for moving higher up )

Haha! Don't want anyone being forced into change...
Just think the two amendments are deserved on both parts

Dear god no, one drum in the hands of someone who knows what they're doing is great and helps generate the crowd noise. But more than one and they get beat out of rhythm and sound awful, not to mention some of the drums sound like someone smacking away at an empty pringles tube.

I'm almost on the 40 metre line (the North stand side of Halfway) I think 3 or 4 rows back, and I love that seat! But the one thing it does lack is atmosphere. There isn't much point in trying to get much going when the people around you aren't interested in singing, of course that's fine and completely their choice, just a little frustrating for those of us who prefer it. A dedicated "singing section" would allow like minded fans to congregate in the same place and try and generate even a little bit of atmosphere into the place. I think it would grow if we could get it started.

When did you actually last beat a strong Saints or Warringtom team ? Don't include beating us last year at the HJ, we had a lead of around 14pts and were cruising then we lost both Briers and Monaghan, another example of Wigan capitalising on other teams misfortunes.[/quote:qtnftxzx]

| Next season, all those who want to sing, should buy south stand season tickets. Then they can sit together.
