| I bet IL was having a right chuckle at some of those names.
I really hope that Agar was one of them. I would have fallen of my chair if that application landed on my desk.

Its a gamble. Not based on Hocks "issues", more a case of form.
He must have impressed in the first few weeks back.
One thing i am sure about. IL will have made sure his end is covered financially. I would imagine a low salary initially with possible increases based of performace.
Great news though.

| IL does not want to raise the salary cap except for inflation. His argument is that clubs cannot afford it. He would only vote for it if there was an increase in tv revenue when a new deal is agreed.

That's the only thing that can be done though. My main gripe is that the cap hasn't risen with inflation, which is an absolute joke and actually ensures rugby league players are effectively earning less.

| Rugby Union players aged 18 to 23 not to count on the salary cap for year 1 and only 50% in year 2.

No, the away shirt sales are down. Wigan speccies don't like blue shirts.

Form is temporary, class is permanent.
I'd be worried if Hock was a fullback or a half, who would need to adjust to the way the team is playing. but he's coming back in with a higher level of fitness and a bigger body he will kill it.

| Apparently Lenegan is so suspicious of how certain other teams manage the salary cap, that if we get outbid for a player we lodge the bid with the RFL so they can compare it against the contract of the successful club.
How times have changed.

| Well it seems like a very informative fans forum they've had tonight. VERY pleasing from a commercial and business prospective that we have definitely made a profit last year and are set to make a bigger profit this year. Absolutely fantastic news. Also the fact we've sold a lot more shirts too is excellent news for the club. The business end is going from strength to strength. Well done to all involved for such a fantastic turnaround. Interesting about the stadium rental costs with Latics potentially going down. Ian Lenagan admitted to being a Latics fan (according to someone on twitter) I wonder how much this would have to do with him trying to build bridges between the two sets of supporters? I wonder how substantial the difference will be? Interesting times there - the stadium debate continues.
As for the playing side of things Gareth Hock signing comes as no surprise. The length of the contract does come as a surprise - despite the strong rumours that he had signed a five-year deal. Gareth Hock is a fabulous player and all the reports about him are favourable, but that is a hell of a long contract for someone who has been out the game for two years. Although I trust our management completely. Let's hope I'm rewarded for my faith. (Incidentally, it makes that tool on the Hull FC forum look like...erm... a tool!). George Carmont and Paul Deacon comes as no sudden shock. I've been harping on about it on here for a while now. Shame to lose a player like Carmont along with Gleeson the same season and it puts tremendous strains on our players to develop quickly as top quality centres. However, I think Joel Tomkins is looking promising as a centre and I hope we can find someone to slot in for next season alongside him if the market for centres is grim. I hope Andy Coley can stay with us another season, but it isn't a disaster if he doesn't. Shame about the Melbourne link. I do hope we continue to pursue this.
And finally the coaching saga! 6 out of the 13 coaches in Super League applied - wow! The only coaches I'd look at would be Tony Smith, Trent Robinson and Nathan Brown. I highly doubt it was any of these, so Shaun Wane it is for me.
Overall it is looking very positive for the future of Wigan RL. Kudos Ian Lenagan.

| 5 year contract, that will teach him, good player and all that but do you not think this sends out the wrong message.
