| Quote: Billy`s Cat "Agree, but also we need more scoots from dummy half, which Piggy and Terry Newton (God bless him) were great at. Scooting runs catch the opposition on the back foot and are a good way to get a penalty and relieve a bit of pressure. Micky Mac just does not do enough of them and whoever is at 9 is too content to "dolly" it up to a front rower and we end up playing 5 drives and a kick rugby.
Roberts probably needs some TLC to get his confidence back because he is well out of form at the moment (but then again he is not the only one). Roberts is a full back but needs his confidence building up and the coaching staff need to do that asap IMO'"
I don't think you can expect a hooker playing the best part of 80 minutes to do too much of this, Buderus at Leeds being a prime example at the moment when he interchanges with McShane (watch me be wrong and Buderus has been playing 80 ). Neither do you want a hooker that only scoots, otherwise we may as well have kept Mickey Higham. If we could have Leuluai interchanging at 9 with McIllorum throughout the game I think we'd be in a better situation, i'd like to see Roberts at 1, Sam at 6 and Finch/Deacon at 7 to facilitate this.

| The 24 idiots that have voted "get rid" are just that - idiots.
Amos Roberts is one of the most talented individuals at the club. Part of our excellent start to our campaign last year - that played an important part in us setting the pace to win the trophy - was partly down to some of Amos Roberts' mesmerizing, world-class plays. He was tearing teams apart with considerable ease, smashing all the statistics, was easily Wigan's best players and was an absolute shoe-in for Man Of Steel. His display at fullback against Castleford was one of the best individual displays I have seen in a Wigan shirt. He was absolutely outstanding. It was a tragedy that he suffered such an injury during this incredible form and it's a testament to our side that we managed to recover without him.
Personally I thought Amos Roberts was rushed back from injury. I think due to his form and talent Madge/Wane may have rushed him back, but hindsight is a wonderful thing I guess. This season though he hasn't hit the heights of 2010 and fans are starting to get on his back. Amos Roberts is a confidence player. If Roberts has a poor game and then another his head will drop and - instead of fans rallying behind him - they're getting on his back, which is only making the matter worse. Have patience. If Roberts has to have a few runs in the U20's then so be it. But saying - or in this case voting - to get rid of him is absolutely ludicrous. The bloke could turn around our season in a flash.

And that's the key word - could. Of course he could. But after waiting for 10 months it is becoming increasingly unlikely.

"Idiots" for expressing their opinion? Ok.
For every good game Roberts has had, he has had 5 rubbish ones.
He reminds me of Denis Moran.

He's clearly more talented than Moran as he showed last season but, as you say, for every good game he really has had 5 rubbish ones.
We sometimes look at things through rose tinted spectacles but if you take the time to look through Bilko's match reports from early last season you can see that he was on fire. It's just so frustrating that he's never been able to replicate that form since the injury or the first season he was here. Because of this he'll be looked on as a failure signing by most.

Richards is the best FB at the club - I like my full backs to be able to defend.

If fans acknowledge that he could - then why continue to get on his back? I understand the criticism stems from the love of the club and desire for the team to do well, but it would make more sense to channel that differently and instead get behind Amos Roberts. Just a thought.

| He needs to regain his confidence and for that he needs a run at FB confidence players dont do well with being moved positions all the time. Thats probably why Pryce is playing better at Quins because hes getting a run in the same position.

| I went for wing. It was where he was so explosive from at the start of last year and is imo his best position. Plus, it allows Sam to either stay at full back or come into the halves and allow a more accomplished fb to fill in.

i agree. hasn't he played in three seperate positions in about 5 or 6 games so far this year?
bang him at FB and give him a few games to settle in. utilise our star players like richards and sam where they should be utilised, on the wing and at 6 respectively.
whether it be due to injury or selection headaches, there has been too much rotation this year and we need to settle our first 13 as quickly as possible otherwise no one will be able to settle, never mind amos!

Exactly I think he's played FB and on either Wing. Shifting a player like Roberts about like that is detrimental to their confidence which is what they thrive on. Any player suffers if they have a lack of confidence but players like Roberts, Pryce, Calderwood, Fielden (before last season) and doubtless many others NEED the confidence or they have nothing.
