England v Fiji in the World Cup. Pretty sure the crowd was given at 28,000 but there were plenty more on that night. Someone from the offices told my dad a few days later that it was going towards upper 30k's.
The Kop moving as one, the Fijian war dance and the Fijian bloke in the grass skirt halfway up a floodlight playing one of thise small Polynesian guitars are some of the great memories of that night.

Went to that game. Nowhere near as many as there was against Manly (36.5k).
Was that the game where we scored a couple with kicks to the corner (quite unusual in those days) |

Announcer said it was 26,000 but perhaps it was a mistake, should have said 36,000.
All papers printed 26,000 and the rest is history.
Personally i'd say 26,000 was pretty accurate.

Anyhow, given Whelan's comments this week, you can see he's getting fed up with it all. He's thrown millions upon millions at the club and then no-one turns up and those that do blame it on Whelan!
