Dropkick Murphy..we actually saw and heard a mass of bouncing and scarf and flag waving to Dale Cavese that drowned out anything we could muster.. It stopped us singing our own celebratory songs, it died out seconds later when we accepted we couldn't be heard over the Wigan lot
Celebrations muted from us, job done from them. Most fans who slag them off are jealous their own club's support is nowhere near that good

My guess was 20-21K - a minimum of 1000 empty in the west stand and i relocated to the middle of an empty block of 500 in the boston. There was no way there were only another 500 empty seats throughout the ground.
You can't blame people for not turning up if there isn't going to be a contest.

had it been a night game the atmo (and crowd) would have been better.
at the very least people would have seen it as a reason for a day out. the early afternoon kick gives very little time for all but the seasoned drinker to have a pre-match session. I was in Wetherspoons at 11, and it was pretty much empty. Had I gone in at 3 for a 6pm kick off I expect it would have been packed. |

I must have been in the wrong one then, was 4 deep at the bar at half 10, and Walkabout was similarly busy. |

I think the attendance would have been bigger too had they lowered the ticket prices. |

As far as im aware there was no free tickets for local amateur clubs for this game.
Being linked with NWC League and Hindley we were offered 50 tickets for the France game but as far as i know nothing for this game.
Indeed i bought 40 tickets for Hindley U17s and friends to go..
