| Quote: DaveO "Fully deserved award. Congratulation's Sam. He is a credit to the club and the junior set up at Wigan.
Do you mean this?
"Brown, in his first year in charge of the Giants, turned the Huddersfield Club into and extremely competitive outfit and led his troops to the Challenge Cup Final."
If so I think most of the copy used in news articles is taken from regular new feeds so this is probably a straight quote of something a jounralist wrote. That said the club didn't need to publish that part!
Dave'"
i think it was the part saying he wouldn't even had been in the team if Tim Smith had been fit.

Fate played a big part in that though. Without Smiths injury and Sam having to take over the first team no. 6 slot it's debatable he would have been given enough opportunity to be in a position to win this award.

Have they changed it? I followed the link to the news article on the club web site and it doesn't say that. Am I looking in the wrong place?
It's true though!

OK thanks. It had gone before I posted about fate being a big part in Sam getting his chance. Seems someone at the club agrees
Whatever, watching Sam has been a pleasure this season.

Yep, seems as if someone at the club knew it was a cheap shot.

| Congratulations to Sam, it's fantastic for the club to have such a great prospect on its hands and a credit to the youth set-up we have that they are producing players of Sam's quality.
With regards to the website comment, I didn't read it as a cheap shot - it's probably been removed because people were reading things into it that weren't intended. I think it's pretty fair to say that Sam's big chance came as a result of Smith's injury.

| Would that be the same Smith who played more games in the reserves than Sam and the same Sam who played more games than Smith in the first team even prior to the HKR game.

| Que? To qualify my comment, as I am on nobody's 'side' in particular on the whole Noble/Lenagan/who-said-and-did-what-to-who debate, I meant that Smith's injury removed the competition for Sam for the spot in the first team, clearing the way for him to cement it as his own.

Correct on both counts IMO. They had better remove the comments about Nathan Brown getting Hudds to a final in case someone misconstrues that one as well.

You know statistics don't impress me (much), Rogue. I just got the feeling that Noble preferred Smith, which he was fair enough but a decision I didn't agree with.
Your assessment of Sam was spot on and I went to last years Reserve Grand final hoping you were right. He's a sensational player and fully deserves all the accolades.

| Fully deserved Sam, a country mile better than Myler IMO, think it will have been close with Eastmond though. Well done!
I still think we should have a England Youth team to play against the first teamers to give the first team a really good challenge before the big comps. Might cause a few selection Headaches.
